Tryon is our absolute favorite neighborhood bar!. Tryoncreek is an awesome neighborhood hangout. The 50 cent tacos on Taco Monday are rad (and I'm a picky eater). Even if I haven't been to Tryon in a month, John remembers our drink order and has them on the table as we sit down. Service is awesome, food rocks, and the environment is laid back and friendly!

NEVER AGAIN!. I like a good place to go and watch a game but this place is horrible! To me what makes a place great is service. We sat at the bar and ordered a round of beers and my friend ordered food but I wasn't sure what I wanted, quite yet, and asked for a couple minutes. After about 20 minutes, with an empty beer, I wanted to see how long it took them to even see that my beer was empty.....THEY NEVER ASKED IF I WANTED A REFILL LET ALONE WHAT I WANTED TO EAT! So I sat, waited and watched them chit chat among themselves. Did I mention, I was sitting at the bar in plain view giving them the hungry eyes and thirsty look? Finally, I flagged down someone (an hour later) and she seemed like she hated life or maybe just hated working there but she was very rude, cold and impersonal with a big fat scowl on her face (the rest of the staff wasn't any better). I'll eat somewhere and not like the food too much as long as the staff is friendly, I mean come on! Now I'm not saying you have to act fake-ish but try smiling once in a while, it's good for the mind, soul and body. Take my advice SKIP THIS PLACE!

A short walk from my house that I don't take anymore. Let's face it. The Burlingame neighborhood doesn't have many options when it comes to bars. That being said I was always happy walking up to The Tryon for a few drinks and a bite to eat. The food has never been great (the burgers are "okay") but I was always fine with that. I didn't ever expect much from them in the way of food; no big deal. I used to frequent the place simply because I live in the neighborhood, although it would never be a destination for me otherwise. So, what's changed?...

Well, the biggest issue is the staff. Besides proximity, the folks who worked there a few years back were what made it a cool neighborhood haunt. All but two are gone. One of whom is really only friendly when she's in an exceptionally good mood. The other is always awesome but doesn't seem to love her job. The rest of the staff (a bunch of dudes) make no effort to make your experience pleasant. In fact, they seem outright put off by anyone who they don't know or who isn't a jock. Now, I don't need to make friends with bar staff anywhere but rapport... Rapport with bar staff is virtually everything that keeps me coming back to a bar and spending a lot of money. Over the years I put thousands into that place only to feel like a total stranger when I go in now. And now, I don't go in.

So, the food is what it is. The drinks are fine. But, if the drinks/food/prices were better than they are now - I still wouldn't attend. Seriously, who do these guys (this collective staff) think they are? Now I drive and "Tryon" different bars for size. Sorry Tryon, but you are a big bummer.

Happy Hour. Not sure if your looking for a place with cheap drinks from 4-7 Monday through Friday but if you are this is the place. Nine plasma tvs and a good mixture of Lewis and Clark College students and the working class keep the atmosphere pretty relaxed.

this place has gone down hill. I have been going to Tryon Creek for years. It was pretty cool with the staff being very friendly and the food was good some times even great. Lately not only does the staff some time seem like they was just a soon smash their head with a hammer than serve you a decent drink but the food is terrible. I am not just saying bad but it’s awful and I have went back several times to see if it was just a fluke. I think that the girls that tend the bar really don’t give a heck if your food comes out hot or not. From a burger that was barely done with wilted lettuce to being so poorly put together when I asked for extra onions then looked I realized I just had a sliver to begin with. The food is cold, greasy and don’t bother with the Tryon dip unless you prefer a slice of meat so thin you can see through it. The mozzarella wedges are cold and very greasy and the sauce that it came with tasted like they took a can of tomato soup and added a little garlic to it. It was very watery and tasted like S&%T. The Tryon dip which used to be really good is reduced to a thin slice of meat with a ton of bun and they make sure to serve it cold because they really don’t have any method of communication between the kitchens to let them know when the order is ready. They just occasionally stick their head in the door and look. It’s a really poor system and the food generally is cold by the time it makes it to your table. I used to really enjoy their pizza too but unfortunately it has also gone down hill and I think since now they have a special on one of the nights reducing the price down to $10 its because that’s all its worth. I really think the owner needs to send in a mystery shopper to see how poor the food really is. If you want attitude, drinks that are some times good some times poor and food that is poor pretty much all the time then this is the place for you. Oh on a good note they do have a variety of bent pool cues and older tables to play on. Take it from some one who has gone here for years. It’s going down hill.
