Superb Mediterranean food. One warm afternoon , we decided to have lunch at Sultan's Cafe We decided to order the Veggie mezza . When the food arrived we were in awe, everything seemed perfect. The Hummous and Baba Ghannouj were superb . The Grape Leaves were beautiful and tasted great . The salad, Taboule was the freshest and greenest Taboule ever and I'm not a big Taboule fan, but I am now ! The Mezza was accompanied with fresh hot pocket bread which was a nice touch. We also ordered Falafel, which was crisp, and fresh with a perfect blend of spices drizzled with a lite special garlic sauce, it was excellent .The entire course was fresh and presented well. I truly believe Sultan's Cafe is one of the best kept secrets in Portland and it really delivers. To top it off parking is easy, hot the typical northwest scenario Anyhow, the atmosphere is the typical homegrown casual Oregonian atmosphere, which is fine for us homegrown types .

Awesome Cafe. The Sultan Cafe is fantastic place. It has a great atmosphere coupled with a cheap and dynamic food menu, supurb coffee, and great hookah flavor selection. The food and coffee are quite cheap, hookah is a bit expensive on the weekends, but it not outrageously priced. The downside is the place does not serve beer and wine. The staff are friendly and helpful. This is hands-down the best hookah bar in Portland. Whatever you do, avoid the Pied Cow and come to this place.

Located in the center of industrial Northwest, this neighborhood favorite is dotted with small pink tables in its indoor space and umbrella-shaded steel tables on the front patio. Casual diners enjoy a menu of salads, vegetarian Mediterranean fare (the crispy baklava is popular) and grilled panini sandwiches. Drinks include the house specialty Turkish coffee and chai tea, as well as standard espresso drinks. Patrons also enjoy smoking various flavored Turkish tobaccos using rented hookahs.
