Portland >Pastini Pastaria
Yesterday I went there with my daughter before 6 to get a parking place. The waitress, Sonja, was nice and sat us immediately. We ordered food when she came for our drink order, and after awhile the drinks were brought and we waited for food. My daughter was served her salad fairly quickly, then our meal was brought out. We had both ordered Chicken Futtucini Alfredo. The sauce was like soup at the bottom of the bowl and so the pasta was tasteless. It's a good thing that we had garlic bread to eat. The waitress never once came to check on our food. We finished and sat and watched the other waitresses serving their customers and passing us by. No one checked on us at all. After about 10 minutes our waitress showed up with the check. No asking how our food was or if we'd like dessert, which we wanted, but with the bad service there was no way I was putting out any more money into the restaurant. I work fairly close for a large business and I tell everyone about my experiences. I hope that the waiting staff realize that they impact the life of that business and they really need to step it up.
Inconsistent. We had eaten here before and thought the service was adequate and the food pretty good. Last night we returned to find the host disinterested and the wait staff even worse. We asked for a booth and were told there were none available. Not 2 minutes after we were seated at a noisy table by the door 2 booths were vacated. You would think the host person would at least offer to move us but she was too busy chatting with other employees. We were forced to be proactive in our interests. No need to worry about getting fat off the food in this place as the portions are minuscule. After our tiny portions were served we asked for ground pepper -- the wait person walked around the restaurant at least 3 times to other tables or employees before seeing to our request. Consistent good service and food are essential to a good reputation. This place has neither.
Butternut Squash Ravioli in Sage Brown Butter.....Yummm. Went with a few friends and had the Butternut Squash Ravioli, it is especially great for this time of year and I crave it. My friends thought is sounded so good that they ordered it too, didn't just want a bite of mine. We shared a bottle of the wine of the month, a great deal and very nice. My friends did consent to share a Bistro salad and they were impressed with all of the flavors, from the Pancetta to the Gorgonzola Herb dressing. The fresh bread is warm and just the right compliment to each dish. We had the Chocolate Tartuffo and the Tiramisu for dessert along with some of their great coffee. Lots of laughs, great conversation and a wonderful place to have a meal!
Great Food - Vegetarian Friendly.
I recently went to Pastini and was really pleased to see a diverse menu with lots of vegetarian options. They have at least 10 different vegetarian entrees (all well under $10) that offer an amazing variety of choices. Not only do they serve spaghetti, but also zucchini, fettuccine, capellini, polenta, macaroni and cheese. and several other dishes. I ordered their Vegetarian Ziti that was incredibly delicious. The portion was generous and included zucchini, squash, fresh tomatoes, pesto, fresh herbs, and bread... all for $7.95. A really good meal for a great price!
The atmosphere was very clean, relaxing and spacious. The staff was really friendly and attentive to their guests. I would highly recommend Pastini to anyone who loves great Italian food.
Fab Neighborhood Restaurant.
Waitstaff was nice and very accomodating to our group - we couldn't decide and they were very helpful in suggestions! They knew their menu inside and out.
Was impressed with the inexpensive prices and our group of five enjoyed our suggested selections by the waitstaff. Thanks for helping us out!
Olive lovers enjoy.
At least once per month I stop by Pastini on Division for lunch. The food is good and filling, especially when you're craving a substantial meal.
I love olives and usually get the assortment appetizer. For $3.50 you cannot go wrong. The quality is much better than the olive bars at Zupans (expensive) and Safeway's feeble attempt to upscale.
Last week I had the vegetarian pasta for the first time, which has olives of course. The weather was too hot for alfredo or gorganzola. I enjoyed the squash, pesto flavor and sundried tomatoes.
If you're in southeast Portland, it's a nice place for casual business lunch.
Poor Service. This is a favorite neighborhood restaurant of ours. We have been frequenting it almost weekly since its opening several years ago. We have used Pastini for catering, purchased gift cards as gifts, and all in all have been very satisfied and happy customers. Tonight my husband and I stopped in after a long and busy week to have a quiet Friday night dinner. We asked for a booth and were told by the hostess that she would clear one and seat us immediately. We were the only party waiting. While the booth was being cleared and cleaned, another couple came in. They asked for a booth and were escorted to the booth and seated. When the hostess returned I reminded her that we were waiting for that booth. She showed us a large, open booth next to the kitchen and said we would be very comfortable there. We told her we weren't interested and would eat elsewhere. I am shocked that this restaurant feels it is doing so well that they can afford to treat customers like this. It will be a very long time before we return to or use the services of Pastini. I am still in shock about the treatment we received with no apology or explanation.
Perfect Lunch Spot. We went to Pastini and had a great lunch! First, we were greeted warmly by our friendly server. The menu has so many choices of pasta that are around $8.95, which is a great deal for lunch or dinner. We had a large Spinach Salad and a large Gorgonzola Chicken Insalata. Both were plentiful and delicious. The sandwiches sound great too, like the Grilled Portobello Panini and the more classic Meatball Sandwich. We are definitely coming back for those soon!
Yuck!. Seriously, this place is disgusting. I ordered rigatoni in a vodka sauce and the dish was worse than expected for a chain restaurant with little soul. The vodka sauce was watery and runny and the rigatoni was slimy and overcooked. My boyfriend got the baked ziti and the sausage was gray and rubbery. It was more like a hot dog than a piece of sausage. The ziti was mushy. The salad and bread were the best things we ate and they were mediocre at best. The decor is tacky and the meals are way overpriced. If you are looking for Italian food, try Serrato instead.
YUMMY!!!!!. Best italian place in PDX that I have found! Awsome food, we usually get appetizer, main entry, dessert, and wine. Its always excellent and a good price! We have always had excellent service and the only thing I can think of to complain about is the parking - or lack of parking I should say!
