Brewery. Beer garden. Sounds impossible to mess up. And it's far from awful, but the beers just aren't up to snuff. Some guest taps would help.

Just try to walk through the plumes of grill smoke wafting from this convivial N. Mississippi brewery's busy patio without being lured into a brat 'n beer break.

Great local Portland brewery with a stellar line-up. Their saison and porter are excellent!

The staff is helpful just as long as you don't have a baby. This is the kind of place to get heart burn from an apple juice-like cider and brats around other adults.

Here's the tip with Amnesia: if you normally drink 3 beers, only have 2 beers here. Despite the listed ABV, even the cider will mess you up.
Amnesia is the go-to summer outdoor spot. Great for people watching and of course, they make their own beer. Though there is a lot of outdoor seating, it's not good for families and children, it's just too packed.
A must stop at... I love Amnesia, never had a bad experience & I send friends there whenever they are in the neighborhood. As for the kids verses dogs issue.. Most dog are better behaved then kids these days. Thanks for sticking by your guys.
not kevin king.
i am one of the owners of amnesia brewing and this "rant" by "kevin king" is not kevin king... he barely knows how to turn on the computer, much less access the email from where this came..
i sent david, who wrote an email to amnesia about his problem that we don't allow children at our pub-- a very detailed email back
WHY we don't allow children... and, one of our employees did as well.. not a malice email, but, simply an explanatory one. to make it clear.. we do not allow minors at our bar.. have not for 7 years and will not.. it is not because of malice.. it is a choice.. because we have that in this country
this guy is bad news.
Hey David,
This is Kevin King, owner and brewer at Amnesia. First of all, how i run my business is none of your !@@@!!business. Second, get a !@!!!@#$ babysitter... Third, how many breweries did your parents take you to when you were a minor? Finally quite frankly, i really don't like children in MY BREWERY!!!!!!! CHEERS !@@@!@!!!.
To corroborate others negative reviews of this place, I have posted an email response from the owner, responding to my question about 'why aren't kids allowed, at least during the day'. Read this, then decide if you want to support business owners who behave worse than my three year old. Citysearch wont publish profanity, but you get the picture.
Booo!. Workers seem arrogant and, well, what about the beer drinkers that have kids? Would be nice to have my child hang out and play with the dogs while us parents can enjoy a beer. I don't understand how dogs are allowed and kids aren't. Prost is the better place. Much friendlier staff, dog friendly, kid friendly,...just friendly. Owner at Amnesia is a jerk also. Head elsewhere.
The owner drunk and aggressive.
I recently had a bizarre experience here. I used to drink here ever since moving to the neighborhood, but my last experience was by far the worst. I rarely feel compelled to right reviews but the actions of the owner seem borderline illegal. While looking for other reviews I found the following which is even more disturbing than my own experience. Abusive business owners need to be called out for the sake of all!
Owner is horrible
I used to come here fairly frequently. I loved their spicy brat with any of their delicious IPAs. No more...
My wife and I were recently sitting at the bar finishing our beers, almost ready to leave. There were about 4 other people there that sunny afternoon. All of a sudden we hear someone around the corner in the back ranting about someone he'd apparently recently fired. Example phrases were "I'm glad I fired the b*tch. She's just a f*cking c*nt." Everybody in the place was shocked, and the waitress/bartender was clearly embarrassed. My wife got up and peered around the corner to tell whoever it was (turned out to be the owner) that everyone in the place could hear him and that he might want to keep it down a little if he was going to use such offensive words. The owner's wrath immediately turned on my wife, as he shouted at her "This is my f*cking place and I can say whatever the f*ck I want to." Then he yelled at her to get out and that she was 86ed from the place. As we got up to leave, after she walked out and I was headed to the door, I heard him call her a "c*nt" and I turned and told him calmly "That's my wife you're talking about, and she does not deserve to be treated like that." His (not unexpected) response was "F*ck you, you're 86ed too. Get out of my bar."
Later, when I saw he was away, I went back in to tip the waitress. She looked horrified at what had happened and apologized. I told her it wasn't her fault and that I was just sorry she had to work for someone like that.
I've never been 86ed before. I'm a nice guy, and I wouldn't be angry if I'd gotten kicked out for being a dick. I used to love this place, but I will never go back, even if we somehow get the apology we deserve. I can't support a person that treats people like that. Besides, there's PLENTY of great beer in Portland. Right up the street there's a new place, Prost! that serves awesome German beer and even better spicy brat sandwiches. Don't waste your time at Amnesia unless you're into abuse and supporting abusers.
Beer good, service bad.
Well, I really want to enjoy this place, since I live nearby, and I'm glad it is not 'kid friendly', but it needs to be at least 'customer friendly' .
The bartender is slow and not very friendly, no smile, or thank you and assumes your change is her tip. On a recent visit during the World Cup, there was only one bartender, no servers, so order a pitcher if you don't want to stand in line, however a pitcher always gets too warm for my liking.
Another peeve, they insist on using goblets for some of their beers, and you can't get a pint glass even if you want it. If I were to return, I'd order my 'goblet' and a cold, pint glass, and then just transfer from one to the other. Ever see the movie "5 Easy Pieces", where Jack Nicholson just wants an order of toast, and has to order a tuna sandwich, hold the mayo, hold the lettuce, hold the tuna??
They could do a lot better, if the wanted to.
Great Beer!. If you like IPA and you live in/or are near the North Portland area, Amnesia is a must! Every Pale Ale, IPA, and Brown Ale I have tried there is outstanding. A great place for a beer purist, not for music, ambience, or food necessarily.
