Superb limone sorbetto. As someone who lived in Europe most of his life (just moved to Portland) I can't understand the negative reviews. Their gelato is excellent, and the sorbetto limone is fantastic! Our first gelato stop so far, so we will have to try the others.

Better than nothing. The gelato is good but not great or mouthwatering. As another reviewer wrote for the other address of the same store the layout does not lend itself to quick ordering or paying. The service varies wildly with some of the newer employees not being able to understand the names of the flavors in Italian (though they are listed right there) to others who are proficient. My parents went there and were told they could not have more than one flavor in a pint! I asked someone downtown if this was so and she said, "It must have been someone new." However my parents averred that the cashier agreed with their server. I wrote a letter to the owner and manager asking them to confirm and they blew me off. So much for hospitality. The rooms are not particularly attractive and if you sit outside you are next to a parking lot. However it sure beats the old supermarket that used to be there.

We've found Italy in Portland!. We have several friends who have told us about Mio Gelato so we finally made the trip this week into Irvington. Not only was the gelato authentic and beautifully presented but when we told the owner we had just returned from a vacation in Italy he struck up a conversation with us and invited to have some pasta. This was like being back in Italy. Grazie Emilio!
