I had my husband's surprise 50th birthday party on Portland's hottest day of the year, June 28th, when it got to 100 degrees! Thank goodness for the canopy that shielded everyone from the sun! Who knew when I began planning it six months prior that's what we'd get! Speaking of planning, Charlie was great!! He helped me with every detail and was there sweating it out with the rest of us for the set up, decorating and party itself, not to mention all the phone calls and meetings prior to that day. He even recommended hotels for my out of town guests. His bartender and wait staff were very nice, friendly and customer service oriented. The food was delicious and nicely prepared. If not for the heat, I think folks might have eaten more, but On Deck was on top of it with the needed to go boxes. I provided my own desserts and On Deck let me store them in the coolers until they were needed. They really have a well organized operation and make customer satisfaction their top priority. My only disappointment was in the sound system. A week or so before the party I learned from Charlie that one of his speakers was out and wouldn't be fixed in time for the party. It made the music output a little lobsided and the microphone I had planned to use for the toast and several other things virtually useless. I ended up not doing the "roast" I'd planned because I knew we wouldn't be able to hear one another. Overall it went really well - my husband was completely surprised and had a great time!

I chose On Deck as the place to throw my boss a birthday party. The outside patio was an amazing location. Plenty of room for tables, sumo wrestling, surfing, and a live performance by "S*** Pants". Charlie helped me plan out the perfect spread and there was a bar set up outside for convenient service. When I arrived to set up everyone was very friendly and willing to lend a hand. One of the servers helped me decorate tables and the bartender made sure I had something to quench my pre-party thirst! From the first time I met with Charlie to discuss the details to the very last guest left the party, it was an amazing experience. I would highly recommend On Deck to other party planners!!!
