I am writing this review from Thailand. I visited Thai Lahnna a little over 2 weeks ago and the food compares very favorably with food we had last night, although, as you would expect, a little more expensive than Thailand. :)
Not good. The green curry was very runny and just tasted like coconut milk and the rice was way over cooked. The Pad thai was almost inedible. I had to drench it in chili sauce to get it down. The tofu has an odd taste to it. I the restaurant was cute inside but the food was really pretty bad and disappointing.
Delicious.. The food is among the best Thai I've had having lived up and down the west coast. I can only remember one restaurant in Seattle that was as delicious. Definitely the best in Portland.
Very Authentic Thai Food, great owners!!. The setting is nice, elegant with outdoor seating. The food was very good, especially the curry. Thai ice tea was very good and the owners made an effort to come and say hello. The menu prices are reasonable and serve beer/wine if requested. The menu items have a good variety with noodles and soups with great appetizers to complement the menu. I would recommend as I have tasted many Thai restaurants within the area and this one hits the mark. Enjoy.....
Wish this place was in my neighborhood. A co-worker recommended this place so I thought I'd try it out. I've eaten there several times and the food always has a made-from-scratch taste to me... My girlfriend loves the peanut sauce ( it's lick the plate good) and I like the rice dishes. I personally stuck my head in the kitchen to compliment the cook and they were Thai so I can say it's AUTHENTIC Thai food... There's a decent selection of brews and wine too so I like to enjoy a great dinner there on the weekend after a long work week. I just wish I didn't live so far away.
Good Food, Awesome service. Cool restaurant in Historic house in my near by neighborhood. I love all the special orders. They use really quality and fresh ingredients. Good food and reasonable price!!!! Moreover, friendly and good service.
Exquisite Cuisine.
I'd love to know which competing restaurant owner typed in the last two grammatically poor (and just mean) reviews slamming this restaurant! They were obviously typed by the same English-challenged typist with a very wide mean streak.
I moved to the Portland area just over two years ago from Seattle. Seattle has some of the best Thai restaurants in the the US. I've also been to Thailand, and I'm a skilled home-chef. Okay, I'm a FOODIE. I'm FIFTY and I've been eating Thai food for 30 years.
I won't list the disappointments I've found in Oregon by name. With one exception, the 'Thai' restaurants I've eaten at - I won't bless them with 'dined at' - were absolute CRAP. Buying the plastic containers of various generic Thai curries at the restaurant supply store and tossing in some veg and meat does NOT constitute Thai Cuisine.
Thai Lahnna offers superb food. The Salad Rolls are to DIE for. My test for a Thai restaurant - can you put out the Tom Kah Gai? Hell, yes, Thai Lahnna puts it DOWN. The Pumpkin Curry is amazing, and the Mango Sticky Rice is orgasmic.
This restaurant has been in business for five years, and continues to succeed even in this sinkhole of an economy. If they served awful food for five years, would they still be around? I think not.
Oh, and we drive from Beaver Town to Sellwood just to eat THERE. So bite me, little nasty man.
barely edible.
I have eaten thai food for decades and their food is barely edible.
not worth the trouble
a very bad food experience
worst thai food I've ever had.
they charge extra for things you didnt even ask for
And I can make better thai food at home in 5 minutes with a few spices, lemongrass, lime leaves, ginger, tomatoes, onions, veggies....
and no recipe book, no training
these people dont know how to cook and should not have a restaurant
a waste of money and calories
I have ordered these dishes dozens of times in various thai restaurants and this place is the worst
great foof excellent service. The restaurant was open for over 5 years and It's always busy when I go I think If they don't know how to cook the restaurant should been close already. I think you(vancouverelle) just have too much attitude .
