Indian food for Scandinavian palates. The food tasted good but not great. Good quality ingredients but overall the food is pretty bland. I'm used to Indian food that is much, much spicier. The naan was great and so were the cocktails.
Not worth the price.. This seems like an OK place for a cocktail, but it's not a good place for eating Indian food. They call it Indian 'fusion'. I guess fusion means over priced and under spiced. Nothing was what it should have been except the drinks, which were excellent.…
Up and down; poor service and very poor response to concern.
We've eaten at Vindahlo before. Had good food. Enjoyed ourselves and the whole experience.
Last night was a whole 'nother experience. 6 of us dined together. The drinks we ordered were great (Tamarind Fizz, Mango Lassi). When the appetizers arrived, it all started to go down hill. They were...bland. The dish of raita for several dollars was about 4 tablespoons worth (not worth the $$). Dinner came, and tasted fine. The service was "on time", but our waitress had an attitude that made us feel that we were in her way. Her water-pouring into our glasses regularly left the table swimming with wayward ice-cubes and water (no apology, or offer of a napkin to sop it up). When an item was brought with something on the plate that one of our party was allergic to (she had been told of the allergy at the beginning of the evening), she acted put out when asked to remove the item and replace it without the allergy-causing item.
As we were eating our dinner, however, we saw some food handling that caused concern. Raw skewers of prawns and chicken were hung in an area that later had cooked prawns and chicken hung in the same place (and both touched the same end wall of the ventilation hood). Decided not to say anything, and left.
15 hours later, one of our party was ill with nausea and other...problems. Called the restaurant to let them know of the issue, and that we had observed a potential problem, and the person I was speaking to (the chef) was rude, and absolutely didn't care that a customer might have gotten ill, or that they had a potential problem with cross-contamination of cooked/raw meats. His response was hauty, arrogant, and absolutely unconcerned about our experience, and told me I could call the health department (I will).
After spending more than $250.00, suffice it to say, WE WILL NOT RETURN. EVER.…
Fun atomosphere,. It is a fun place to have a dinner experience. The winter vegetable korma had a lot of depth to the flavor with a bit of heat from the chilies. Naan, coconut cooler and vegetable samosas were a delicious compliment to the dinner. Husband got the culotte steak, a bit tough but fragrant and spicy. The cauliflower and potato puree was amazingly delicious. We will be back when we need an Indian slash local fix.…
Nice place to enjoy tasty meal with family and friends. A party of 6 of us enjoyed dinner there last night. Really enjoyed the food. Everything we had tasted fresh and was prepared well. Server was knowledgeable about the menu and good too (but could clear empty plates a bit sooner). We especially enjoyed the mulligatawny soup (yum!) and the appetizer special (fried sweet potato cakes with sweet tomato chutney). The culotte steak was very good as well. Interesting twist on the beet salad with the cardamon. All in all very enjoyable evening.…
