When you grow up, opportunities for pure fantastical delight can sometimes feel thin on the ground...which is when I step into this sweet downtown wonderland, where rows of housemade cupcakes and confections dance before your eyes. (Hey, this IS a fantasy, ok??) And if Who Needs a Brownie? cookies are your idea of a balanced breakfast, they open weekdays at 8:30am.

Adore their red velvet cakes, and the new Melty Goods ice cream treats are delicious. Try the Oregon Marionberry cupcake when they're in season.
I agree with what some of the other reviewers have said: their cupcakes really aren't anything special. The cake tastes like regular box cake, and the frosting-something I can whip up in my own kitchen-no point in paying the prices they ask for them. Also, the customer service is nothing to write home about. Cupcake Jones is far far superior in taste, flavor, texture, decadence and friendly service. I don't imagine this place will be lasting much longer unless they switch some things up.
Inflexible and Disappointing Service. Saint Cupcake lost a returning customer today. My daughter made a special request for a certain kind of cupcake, nothing out of the ordinary, it was chocolate cupcakes with strawberry frosting. I looked at the business web site and found that they had strawberry frosting and of course had had chocolate cake. However, they were very inflexible and unwilling to put strawberry frosting on their chocolate cupcakes. When I mentioned that this was a very special occasion for my whole family the woman on the phone didn't budge. How hard could it be to substitute a frosting you already have for a special order? Not very. Bad service and I won't be back.
Decent, not the best cupcake in pdx. These cupcakes are fine, not terrible, not amazing. The cake part tastes no different than box cake and the frosting is alright, but nothing special. I have been a few times and each time they are low on flavors (which is a bummer because the flavor list is extensive and interesting). Overall, I would not waste my money on these cupcakes, cupcake jones has by far better cupcakes.
Like, not love.
My brother was feeling a bit down the other day - and while boys don't think quite the same as girls do - I thought a nice sugary pick me up would not be a bad idea. So off to Saint Cupcake, which I had heard many a delightful thing about.
My brother LOVED his "fat elvis" - while this is not your typical cupcake - he thought the chocolate, peanut butter and banana-y treat was interesting and said if he was going to overload on sugar, that would be the way to do it.
I had a vegan red velvet and it was . . . fine. Not the best I have ever had (too much frosting for my taste - and not as moist as one would hope) but still a nice little treat.
I would recommend it - but I would not send people in with the highest of high hopes that I had.
DELICIOUS!!!. I love Saint Cupcake SO MUCH! And their cupcakes are delicious. The cake is nice and moist and the frosting couldn't be better. 5 stars. A must for the cupcake lover, or really anybody else. You'll have a great time.
RED VELVET CAKE.
really good red velvet cupcake! i havn't tried any other flavor, so i can't really comment on them. but they look good!
also, they only have certain flavors on certain days, so check their website for the caledner.
it a little spendy, though. it used to be 2.25 for the full size, but now its 2.50 :/
the dot cupcakes went up a quarter, to.
but amazing cupcakes!
Best Cupcakes in Town.
I don't usually get excited about cake, in fact I usually scrape off most of the frosting and only eat a few bites, but the cupcakes at Saint Cupcake are GREAT! I was talked into going with a friend a few months ago and reluctantly bought a toasted coconut cupcake. One bite and I was hooked. It was delicious!
I'm not sure what other reviews are complaining about with the size. I had a hard time finishing the whole thing and now happily cut them in two and share with my 5 year old or save half for the next day. I've been back to try at least 5 other flavors since and I haven't been disappointed with any of them (though toasted coconut is still my favorite).
I wonder if they have done some staff training or overhaul since some of the early reviews because I've had very helpful, patient servers every time I've been there.
GREAT CUPCAKES. I tried them for the first time at Fred Meyers store and go back there every sunday night to pick up enough little cupcakes to last for the week.
Sweet sugar high.
As a cupcake fanatic who sometimes doesn't feel like baking, I've searched all of Portland for the best cupcake, and St. Cupcake wins. Sure, there's enough frosting slathered on to induce sudden-onset diabetes, but the moist, delectable cake underneath makes up for it. (I always scrape some of it off; who doesn't enjoy licking their fingers? We're eating cupcakes for god's sake.) And yes, the service is *ahem* less than helpful, but it's sort of like being in France for a moment.
In a nutshell: These aren't your mother's cupcakes, but they're damn close and better than the Crisco-frosted drycakes being served up at other places.
Can I have my money back?. I think the folks who wrote these 5 star reviews are friends of the owners or something. I put my first and last cupcake to the test by choosing VANILLA -- a make or break test if you can pull-off simplicity. Well, it was bland. I didn't even finish it. I love sweets, but if this was all I had to choose from, may I never have another cupcake in my lifetime. I don't know how this place can thrive except the people who think this is good grew up on Betty Crocker and Duncan Hines, which btw, taste better than here.
