Was good when it opened - now not so much.... When Jumbo Restaurant first opened down the street from our house, we were excited! And the first few times we went there, we were not disappointed - great food, wonderful service, highest quality. Now that the restaurant has been opened a couple years, the quality has tanked - the service is poor and the food isn't fresh - it's mushy and greasy. I won't eat there again. I've tried it several times since I noticed the downhill slide, but it just gets worse. Try the better Chinese Restaurant on King Road, almost to 82nd, Kwang Chow. Their quality and service have been consistent during the last 10 years I've been patronizing them.

Chow Down Cheap..... By far the best Chinese in inner SE PDX with a Hong Kong trained chef. Although there is decent authentic goods in New Chinatown on 82nd this hidden gem is worth seeking out. Great portions and modest pricing and new combination plates under 10 bucks.

I got the Kung Po Shrimp/Mandarin Chicken combo w/ Pork Fried Rice and 3 Spring Rolls for $9.50. Very satiated and even got Hot N Sour tossed in for free. The appetizer smapler at $4.50 a head was great. The fried shrimp is da bomb and there is no Sysco style frozen blandness that most joints pass off as food.

Fresh tastiness in a sea of bland NW cuisine. Is it just me or does everyone in Portland eat food spiced for 80 year olds ? Don't get me started on pizza or bagels as they only exist in the NE.

Szechuan. Nice Portions. Reasonable prices.. We love Jumbo too. The owner, Jack, was very hospitable our first visit and has remembered us since. I believe he brought his uncle from China to cook for him and has new staff now, but we find it quite good. We like the spicier dishes and order the Kung Pao Shrimp "no vegetables" and love it. The green bean stirfry with any meat choice is always a good one we can't pass up. The bar is dark and smokey. We fondly call it "The Cave". The restaurant is comfortable enough but the restrooms aren't very nice or up to date. Good, authentic Szechuan dishes reasonably priced; nice portions.

Best chinese food in Pprtland and milwaukie!!!!!!!!!. I love this place!! The service was pretty good, but the food made up for anything else that was lacking. It doesn't taste like any normal chinese restaurant. It has more of an authentic taste rather than Americanized chinese food like Panda Express. My personal fav is the chasew chicken and who can pass up a good crab puff!! Anyways, try it for yourself and you'll agree!!

Retro Sheik. Think 50's dinner, retro cool and you are thinking of Papa Joe's. The bar is a classic and has to rank up there with Portland's best retro joints. Not some flash in the pan "modern bar" this place screams old school! Good and cheap bar menu, late night menu even better, stiff drinks and good conversation with the locals. Jukebox, TV's and 6 video poker machines that were very kind to me.

New Owner Makes Great Changes!. Papa Joe's has been around for YEARS, but a new owner has improved on a Johnson Creek landmark. They are now open for breakdast 7 days a week and have the BEST Denver Omlette. The ingredients are pan fried before they go inside the omlette, an extra spet that adds a lot of flavor. They also have a $2.95 breakfast deal with Eggs, Toast, Hasbrowns and Bacon or Sausage. Service is fast and friendly. Give this place a try, you will not regret it! Also, I was QUITE lucky playing the Poker Machines in the bar at Papa Joe's.
