One of the best happy hours in town. We went here for happy hour on a Friday night. Everything we had was great quality and tasty especially the mushroom strudel. The decor and ambience was hip and cozy. The food and the service did not disappoint. They have some atypical happy hour items which is a breath of fresh air. It's definitely on my top happy hour list.

Close it down!. This place is a freakshow! What was once a very cool bar and bistro has become a rap video gone bad. $20 cover, terrible music, drinks served in safety cups, fights (I was pushed into a stall after one broke out in the bathroom and then witnessed two more in the hour that I was there), the SHADIEST characters, "substance selling" and tweakers galore, the list goes on and on. It feels like a high school prom for local school of cosmetology and their shday dates. I can't believe the place hasn't been shut down yet. Solo is a sea of filth.

Trashy place. As a resident of Pearl District who lives a block away from this trashy club, I would really appeal to have this club closed for good. I can hear all these low class people fighting at 3am including all these women screaming. I've been there once and it's horrible! Bad music, women are cheap and guys are D-bags! I am from Chicago and I would not exchange a dive bar or club with this crappy place. All you trashy people and sleazy women, go somewhere coz I can't stand your noise and cacophony early in the morning. I have no idea why would they this trashy place in Pearl District! Leave!!! The owner should mandatory pick better DJs and select the people for admission..like Chicago and NYC..they can deny service to these trashy people.

girllici0us. S0 i heard about s0l0 from people.. i just want to give that place a chance, so i went there last Saturday. The line was long been waiting outside for hours, girl that dress really dirty looking all trashy get to go in first. While other they have to bride the bouncer to get in. what is this? this ain't New York city or freaking Las Vagas. This is Portland. 20 freaking dollar to get in is a freaking ripe off. The club is freaking small. The bouncer is rude, i saw one of them.. grabbing one of the girl by her arm and drag her down the stair way like she a rag doll. The mess up part is while he is doing that he was freaking laughing. That just show what kind of person they are. I do not recommend this club to any body. Its a rip off and people who work there are so unprofessional. And to those of you who are classy.. if you want to go to a club with tons of trashy tramp who dress up like a freaking stripper, rundown cheap make up..and a freaking fake (.)(.)job..then go to solo. For me..its the first and the last. I would not do business with low class place like that.

Hated'd It!. Okay, so I keep hearing the hype about Solo, so last weekend was my first time there... I agree with all the other critics about the bouncers and the $20 cover fee... what a rip off! The bouncers really shouldn't take their less than no brainer jobs so seriously - don't act like we're this club is in LA, NY and Miami because it doesn't compare. Besides the long long lines, and the bouncers pretending to hold the line just to make it look like it was "happenin" inside, the club feels like two small boxes with low ceilings with nothing good going on inside. I felt like I was walking into a high school dance.The music could be better - stop mixing it so much with trance, or whatever it is you call it.

Do not waste your time here.

The Bouncers will ruin your evening!. The Club looks great, they play great music and the bartenders were outstanding, BUT it was the bouncers that made this the worst experience I have ever had at a club! They put so many people on the VIP list that its always to capacity so they have to get people out some how so they start kicking out girls waiting in line for the restroom. Normally you have to show signs of being intoxicated but my wife was the DD so when the bouncer forcefully grabbed her arm and made her roll her ankle going down the stairs they had get their on hand police officer involved because the power-tripping bouncer with the go-T almost got his butt kicked and should have a suit filed against him. I strongly don't recommend it and Solo will eventually be known for doing this!

BEST CLUB. This is a very fancy and thoughtful place. When i went on march, there were 2 dance floors, different music at all times, very fun both. I just highly recommend it if you want to have a blast or, if afterwards, you feel like talking, just go underground, there's a very nice lounge with good coffee and very friendly staff.

Terrible Service. This bar is not worth the wait! The bouncers are rude and don't give two sh*ts about you. It's over priced and if you aren't on "the list" then you can wait in line for over 2 hours, and then they charge you $25 to get in! Don't go, there tons of other bars in the area that are much better, you'll get your moneys worth and they don't treat you like your worthless at the door.

Wait in line for hours while cigarette ashes are dropped on you from above!. Waited for two hours in line, in cold and rain watching other people walk up and bribe bouncers to get in before me.

They force you to line up under their second floor balcony, while people who are actually on the balcony smoke and drop their ashes and sparks on you for hours. The bouncers and bar staff watch this and apparently think you deserve it because they do nothing to stop it.

I will NEVER go to this club again!

I'm sad that I am required to actually award it a star in this review as it really deserves a negative 5 stars.

I strongly suspect the positive reviews on this site to be put up by owners or employees of the club.

DO NOT GO TO SOLO.

UPDATE: as of April 3, 2008 there are more people giving this place ONE STAR than any other rating.

Don't be fooled into SoLo.

Reminded me of a high school dance. So i just turned 21, obviously I don't know what other clubs are like as for my first experience at Solo it was pretty good. I guess it was the group of people I was with. I had no problem getting in with the bouncers but I have a lot of good friends who work that club so I had VIP. I was disappointed by a couple of things....the drinks all came in very small plastic cups and were pretty pricey, and it was $150 for a VIP table which just included a place to sit. The promoters there got me free drinks all night so that was good, but basically it just seemed like a dance floor with a couple seats and alcohol ie high school dance. I wouldn't recommend it for a 21st b-day, i'd say it's about average.
