Red Lion Hotel on the River - Jantzen Beach

Warm and wonderful. The folks at the Red Lion on the River truly understand the hospitality end of their business. A top notch facility that leaves nothing falling short. We had the pleasure of staying at the hotel the first week in January, 2011 and found it to live BEYOND our expectations.

The rooms are large and recently remodeled, the restaurant and bar belong to the property and the STAFF .. just say they never met a guest they didn't like and they live that way.…

Dinner at the grill/resturant is a disaster. I had eaten at the hotel's resturant many times over the last 10 years and though not impressive, it was a good experience all around. So expecting more of the same I returned for a relaxing evening. Our waiter brought our menus and there wasn't enough light to read them. We asked for a table candle or a flashlight but none were available. We used the light from a cell phone to read the menu.

We chose corn fritters as an appitizer. they were so dry they were impossible to eat and we returned them. So we proceeded to order. I ordered $26 NY Steak, rare and asked for a substitute for the vegetable. I choose mashed potatoes. My date chose the fish entree. Guess what the dinner DIDN'T INCLUDE soup or salad, bread or a choice of vegatables like most resturants. I got an over cooked steak and runny mashed potatoes. We asked for bread and paid for a side order. The fish was bland and tasteless. Our server though nice, seemed confused possibly due to lack of experience. Hopefully the management will read this.…

Great Hotel with View. My week's stay at the Red Lion was fanatastic with a picture perfect view of the river, The Service was warm and friendly. They provided shuttle service for me daily to take me from hotel to the convention center in Vancouver. Tom the driver was friendly, made arrangements to pick us back up, was always there with a smile. Service thoughout the hotel was "what can I do for you?" attitude. Room service was delivered within 20 minutes. All the employees seemed to love what they were doing. Great job, keep up the good work.…
