When I used to live in Goose Hollow, one of my favorite guilty morning pleasures was to slip into Gracie's incomparably elegant dining room en route to work, sit in one of the swanky booths, and order a slab of ham and a side of bruleed pineapple. Strange, but true. And delicious. Otherwise, get their dreamy German pancake.
oh so pretty!.
I would go here just to enjor the old hollywood glamour. I took my sis here for her b-day. Then came back during the week for happy hour. I can't wait to have the croque monsieur and black and blue cocktial again!
The service was also great!
Just Lovely!. 1st experience with Gracies, and 'she' did not disappoint. We dined before theater at the Artists Rep. This was a Tues, so not busy. Lovely ambiance, attentive service and tasty cuisine. The prixe fixe pre-theater menu was surprisingly strong. I had the trout (steelhead) dish, and it was very nice. My wife went to the regular menu for the crab risotto, that was rich and tasty. Will definitely return.
Very Glamorous Interior.
i went to Gracie's several months ago with 3 friends.
Even though the dining room was practically empty, we made a reservation and requested a specific banquette.
Two people in our party had not yet arrived, so we told the hostess that we would have a cocktail across the hall in the lounge.
When the rest of our party arrived, we all continued with cocktails in the lounge. When we were done, we walked across the hall to Gracie's, to find, even though the restaurant was practically empty, that our table had been given away.
Later in the evening, we learned that our table had been given away to friends of someone on staff. Because, even though our food took forever to arrive, someone from the kitchen, and the hostess, kept running back and forth from the kitchen to chat with their friends "at our table", while oblivious to our table's lack of service.
The food was OK hotel food.
I called the next day to speak to the manager, and they became very defensive.
The setting is lovely....but our experience was lackluster.
Wonderful Restaurant. Love Gracie's. Their bread pudding french toast is to die for. Had a wedding shower here and service, food, ambiance were wonderful. Have been back several times since.
Great People indeed.

Great experience
Great people
Swanky & solid. My husband and I just ate here on New Year's Eve for the first time. We had reservations and really my only complaint was our table. We were sat at one of two booths that face the kitchen. I asked if we could be moved, but were told there were no other tables available (except the other booth facing the kitchen). So we couldn't really enjoy the ambiance of the dining room - we were facing away from it and in a noisier area where waitstaff kept coming & going. Other than that - the service was prompt and friendly. The wine was a little pricey ($10/glass minimum) but there was an ok selection. We each got salads - reasonably priced and very good (decent portions too). Our mains dishes - we each got fish (2 different entrees though, hubby got the special). My entree was fabulous - perfectly seasoned and very tasty. His was also very tasty, but was a little on the luke-warm side for me (I like my food very hot when it comes out). We will go again, but next time specifically request a table on the interior of the dining room.
Inspired American cuisine served in elegant surroundings draws diners to the plush Hotel deLuxe's restaurant..
In Short
With sparkling chandeliers, marble-topped tables and velvety brown booths, Gracie's evokes the feel of a glamorous Hollywood supper club, befitting its location in the '40s film era-themed Hotel DeLuxe. Breakfasts feature enormous plates of familiar comfort food like tall stacks of syrup-drenched pancakes as well as lighter offerings such as oatmeal and seasonal fruit plates. The lunch and dinner menus are heavily rooted in seafood dishes with offerings of Dungeness and bay shrimp crab cakes and grilled Coho salmon served with a lightly smoked succotash.
Not your ordinary hotel restaurant.
I live in Portland but wanted to try out this place since it's nearby and different. We were seated at a cozy curved booth with a view of the beautiful dining room. We each had ordered a salad to start and for me a glass of crisp Sauvignon Blanc. The Caesar salad was very good and the frissee salad had the perfect flavor. For entrees I ordered the flank steak with pommes frites and my boyfriend had the halibut. Both our dishes were very good. My boyfriend liked that the halibut was simply prepared and not doused with sauce. We enjoyed our meals so much that we decided to top it off with a dessert, a berry almond cake. It was quite tasty.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience; friendly service, nice ambiance, good background music and delicious food. It really isn't just a 'hotel restaurant' but a good Portland restaurant.
Matzo Ball Heaven. This afternoon ten of my office co-workers were trying to decide on where in this city to have a nice lunch. With parking being such a pain in the you know what these days thanks to the ever growing pearl, we decided to just eat in our own neck of the woods and walk. One co worker had mentioned that she had just been over to the Driftwood Room at the Hotel Deluxe (the old Mallory Hotel), raving about the cocktails and hot bartender, we called to see if they were open for lunch. Wanting to check out what all the hype was about, we walked down. We were sat quickly, although the restaurant was really busy. We were greeted by our new fav Miguel! What a charm, the restaurant is a gem. The service is quick, and to the point, the server was warm and not stuck up like pearl destinations. Everyone got something different although aurged over everything, with 10 women its hard to decide! My favorite was the Matzo Ball soup, i think 6 of us had it! the best i have ever had. Anyway i would highly recommend this place to all. P. S. No need to have walked, they have free parking. Try the Meatloaf and Mash Potatoes or the Green Goddess Steak Salad too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
excellent ambiance, great chef, great service!. Anyone who doesn't give this place a 5 star is crazy. This is a gorgeous restaurant and it's a great deal for the type of food and service you get here. Elegant and tasty food. I stayed at the hotel for a week and felt no need to venture out anywhere else because I had Gracie's right downstairs! The caesar salad and pastas are excellent as is the burger. Desserts and FABULOUS and they have an extensive wine list. You'll love it! Better than anywhere I've been in a long time. The chef really knows what he's doing.
