Quality & Hospitality

I like Olvie or Twist because the owner is extremely hospitable. Go there a few times have a few conversations and he remembers you and your story. The drinks they have are classic cocktails. Don't go expecting anything else. Not really a "S*x in the City" bar where you can get a mango fruiti tuiti blended cosmo martini. BUT they do have a couple of options that might please that crowd. To those who complain about the beer and wine list, hmmm..., look at the name of the bar? It's a cocktail lounge. Part of the fun is the knowledgable owner and bartenders, who actually can give a little insight on some of the drinks! Great atmosphere, nice classic jazz music, good place for a conversation.

• Pros: Hospitable, Ambience, good place for convesation, central for a meeting place
• Cons: Really just a cocktail lounge - but that's what's intended!

WILL NOT BE RETURNING

Had never been to Olive or Twist before, and thought it would be a good place to take friends from out of town. We were greeted by who we believed to be the manager/owner? I wanted a vodka martini, and to my surprise, he all but argued with me, trying to get me to order a gin martini. When I didn't, he seemed annoyed. After some time, we got our drinks and asked if we could see a food menu, which never came. (we had to ask another table for theirs.) After waving down another server, we attempted to place our order for food. About ten minutes later, we were informed that they were out of two of the four items we ordered. It was well over an hour before we recieved the food we did order: A chicken caesar salad, very straight forward and basic, and a panini with pasta, (we ordered salad with it,) where the bread was hard as a rock.

Bottom line, a total bummer of an experience. Will not be going back.
