Editorial Review for Shula's Steak House – by Bevyn K. Rowland
In Short
Ascend a spiral staircase crowned by a crystal chandelier to find a sprawling sports lounge and an intimate dining room. With fewer than 20 tables, the cozy factor is a welcome surprise at this national chain steakhouse. Ebony lacquered chairs and pristine, contrasting white linens are simple and elegant. The menu is equally uncomplicated: Certified Angus Beef steaks plus a few seafood options are the mainstay here. An ideal spot for meat, potatoes and martinis.

I am not a sports person, so ordinarily, I would not have thought of going to Shula's. A group of us at work had a recent team-building meeting here for dinner one evening, and I came away very impressed with both the service and the food. Our group was seated immediately upon arrival, and our server was super friendly and very attentive. My 8 oz fillet was prepared to perfection. It was melt in the mouth tender and delicious and the bernaise sauce it came with was wonderful too - I was impressed that our server even had us check our steaks to make sure they had been cooked per our ordering instuctions. I have been to both Morton's and Ruth's Chris and neither of those establishments had us check our steak. Consequently, my husband's steak at Morton's was semi-raw (although he had ordered medium-well) and had to be sent back. The creamed spinach I ordered ay Shula's was tasty and delicious (and the portion was huge) and the baked potato was also gigantic. I shared my potato and spinach with another co-worker. Overall, it was a very nice experience - the food was outstanding and the large portions of the sides were not compromised by quality. My only issue with the restaurant is that it does not have the darker, intimate ambience that many steakhouses have, which I enjoy. Shula's is well-lighted, small and has mainly tables. There are no cozy booths. In spite of this, I will glady return to Shula's for the delicious food and service. My husband's birthday is coming up in June and I am considering Shula's for the occasion.
Pros: Wonderful food and service.
Cons: Not too intimate...mostly tables (no booths) and very well-lighted.

Service and Atmosphere are just what you pay for. The steak is why you'll go back. Classic steakhouse done in an inviting new-school setting. The hard wood floors and the private dining room invite holiday parties. The pictures on the walls alone will satisfy any sport lovers needs. My whole review in one word is.... GO.
Pros: Valet validated, Steaks , Wines , Service
Cons: I didn't hear of it sooner.
