What Our Expert Scouts Say

Vendetta
March 13, 2013

No real deals on drinks, but maybe you. Vendetta was one of the first hip bars on what is now called the "North Portland Corridor." The popularity of the bar can no doubt be attributed to the beautiful patio and shuffleboard.

Tips for Vendetta

Always great for hipster-watching, Vendetta is a local watering hole for those that can't be bothered to talk to you, let alone get you a beer. Late night, though? I used to get the nachos a lot and that was good.

Terrible Bartenders. Embarassingly enough the bartenders can't vet out of state licenses and will deny those showing non-OR. not remotely worth the trek to newly gentrified NE

worth the trek. They have a great patio out back, shuffleboard and tasty sangria. They have no sign which helps keep it local, uncrowded and great place to meet friends.

Add me to the list. Yeah, I could see some kind of quaintness in staff-bitchiness if it wasn't the blandest bar in North Portland. By the way, is it a coincidence that this bar opened the same summer as that movie of the same name? I guess the owners just really like Natalie Portman and ugly, arrogant bartenders with out-of-control cleavage.

Great Drinks. Went here for the first time last wk, not an after-work crowd rather, lots of locals. (Everyone was there in their t-shirts and jeans or shorts at 5:30pm on a Friday, don't people work anymore???) Had 4 drinks and a lg plate of nachos during happy hour and it was great! The place was crowded and busy but the bartenders were great. The drinks were inexpensive but nice and strong! This place is highly recommended, go when it's nice and you can sit outside in the back at a picnic table, but go early to get a spot.

Great if you have low self-esteem.... We live in the neighborhood and have tried it a few times. Went last night with three other neighbors, and I was none too happy to leave. Just the two of us spent $50 on food and drinks, and that's $40 more than we should have (you can't screw beer up thank God). The bartender talked down to me and made me feel as if she was doing us all an enormous favor as exemplified by her impatient and passive-aggressive demeanor. The food was just average - $7.00 for two tacos as bland as Lake Oswego (go to St. Johns and order the tacos for a buck at the Mexican grocery store and you'll wish you could move in), my mixed drink wasn't all that great, and the service; ah forget it. Why does Portland have the worst service on the planet? I grew up here, but have lived and worked in Chicago and New York, and the neighborhood bars kept me coming back because THEY WERE FRIENDLY - they were a true neighborhood bar, not a pseudo-hip here's a drink and a kick in the jewels for stopping in sort of place. Too cool for school? Bite me.

Just my opinion though.

Favorite Bar in N. PDX. I stumbled upon this N. Portland neighborhood bar a few months ago and it has become my favorite bar in the area. It's non smoking unlike the Florida Room or the Crow Bar and contrary to the other reviews on this site much less attitude from the service. They have a daily drink special and have $1 Pabst on Tuesdays. The food is pretty simple bar food but it's affordable and if your just looking for a snack while drinking it hits the spot without breaking the bank. I cant wait for summer when the gardens grow back, it looks like a little back yard jungle. Cheers vendetta, thanks for opening up in my neighborhood!

Too cool for school. This place would be an ok bar if it wasn't for the down right mean service. The ultra too cool for school hippsters at this place made me feel like I wasn't even worth their time or energy. Really felt as if I were back in high school again. Looks like some other people had some of the same experiences.

I say avoid this place.

Don't knock it till you try it...ummm 40x. Keep waiting for the owners to wise up...cause bleaching the NE is one thing, but bleaching it with bitches for bartenders is a whole notha story. I could not agree more with nardblast's post.
