J'adore Zenana!. I absolutely love this place and today I was reminded via *incredible* facial to write a review. I have been going to this spa for a little over four years now and I love that there is so much accommodation for moms of all kinds: moms to be, moms that are, moms to be again and moms that need a break from all the "to be-isms"...if you know what I mean. I love the prenatal yoga class, the boutique items, the resources and the massages and facials that are offered. There are so many combinations of serviceant hat you can basically custom tailor what you need for that particular visit. So much bang for the buck it makes treating yourself a no-brainer!

Best mama spa around town.. Money and time are well spent at this spa. Always have been treated kind by staff. The services are spectacular. Each time I would get a pedicure, I'd only have to return once a summer, because the polish would stand up to sand, water and sun. Each massage worked miracles. If you complain of a trouble spot, the therapist can fix the issue. The women that work here are always professional and friendly. The best part about this spa,,,,its family friendly, especially for mothers. Children enjoy this place too. Cannot get any better than here. Highly recommended.

Thank You!. This might be TMI for some of you, but if you're also pregnant you will understand! At 28 weeks I can't see what is going on below the waist anymore. I was a little nervous to get a bikini was for the first time with my present condition but since I can't do my own "grooming" I thought it was worth a try. I felt comfortable from the start, the gal who waxed me did a great job explaining everything as she went along, good conversation helped distract me from the pain. After she was done waxing she trimmed things up, yes I was a little embarrassed to have someone else "grooming" my area but she assured me she does this all the time for ladies in my situation. Sadly for her, I will be back!

Facial Gone Flat. This was my first visit, using birthday money from my husband. The spa had been recommended to me by a good friend. I had the "radiant goddess" package. The massage was okay, the technician being very nice, giving a very soothing, centering massage, but as I am use to deep tissue/shiatsu, it fell short of being totally relaxing (I did ask for a deeper touch....). Then I had a facial. Again, the technician was very pleasant and nice but being the veteran of a number of facials in my life, this fell flat. (I've had facials at 5-star hotels.) I left the salon feeling like she hadn't done anything - and my skin felt greasy and irritated. The next week I broke out like nothing before with huge acne. It blew my mind, it was so bad. I felt that the products used during my facial were not appropriate, and after perusing the "Eminence" catalogue (the salon line) I found many other products that sounded like they would suit my skin - alas, this spa carries only a VERY LIMITED amount of the line they use!! Just as an aside, I called to purchase a specific moisturizer that was out of stock, and the person I spoke with placed my name on a waiting list for the next time they got that product in. I never heard back.......

very very pleasant. i went here to get a bikini wax because it was close and the reviews were pretty good. i'm a college student, so had no need for the child care or mother specials, but i really loved the atmosphere, they were friendly, comfortable, and i don't know how, but it was one of the least painful waxes i have ever had. Indira (the waxer) was really considerate. it was a great experience. relatively cheap, the wax wasn't the best i've ever had, but i was also very passive and didn't ask for anything specific, so the fault is more mine than hers, i'm sure she would have been happy to accomodate my desires had i asked.

also, there was original confusion about my appointment but they were really great about it. and when i called to say i was running late they were really nice.

a great exprience even for non-mothers!

Fabulous retreat for mom's to be and mom's with little ones in SE PDX. Just went and had a wax at this wonderful retreat and I can tell you that I will be back! Such a wonderful combo for expectant moms and just moms in general. Their gorgeous rooms and knowledgeable staff will treat you well and for those who are expecting-no need to ask for extra pillows to be propped up they are 100% on it.

I recommend Sara who is lovely and fantastic with waxing. I cannot wait to try out their itsy bitsy yoga class after my delivery for moms and babies it sounds awesome. I will definitely be using their children's room afterwards too-when I need to escape for a pedi with the girls-you can even rent their sumptuous Moroccan themed pedi room for a girls night out! Ladies, support this place we need more like it!

Ahhhhhh!!!. I had heard great things and so I scheduled a facial. Sara gave me one of the best facials I've ever had. It was relaxing and she was very knowledgable and pleasant. I left happy and relaxed, what else can you ask for?? Big thumbs up.

a must for moms.... i absolutely love this place. i go there a lot, for massages, facials and pilates classes. the boutique is also really cute too! the facials are made from all organic fruits and veggies. my baby is always well taken care of in the childrens room - they seem to know a lot more about babies there than at my gym daycare. it seems happier. the massages always begin with a warm lavender foot bath! ive heard the pedicures involve more natural nail polish - maybe i will try them soon. overall, a wonderful place.

Response to Previous Reveiwer. We at Beyond Birth Lactation Services and Zenana Spa and Wellness Center are so sorry that the previous reviewer had that experience! It is the mission of Beyond Birth to support all women in attaining their individual breastfeeding goals with out judgement or bias. Beyond Birth and Zenana Spa and Wellness Center both list La Leche League and Nursing Mother's Counsel as resources on our web pages and are constantly recommending these peer support organizations when appropriate. However, in certain situations mother's need the support of qualified lactation professionals. We are always happy to provide these services and as listed on our website, have a variety of payment options for families including insurance-billing, grant services and low-cost options. In addition we do not hesitate to remind clients that all of the local hospitals offer lactation services to women even if they have not delivered at that particular facility.

We would be happy to offer the previous reviewer a gift card or a complimentary service in hopes to rectify her feelings regarding this situation (previous reviewer - please call and speak with one of the managers to take advantage of this offer).

At Zenana Spa and Wellness Center and Beyond Birth Lactation Service we strive to provide excellent customer service and are continually making the changes necessary to reach this goal. We thank the previous reviewer and those before her for their comments.

zenana. Zenana was recommended to me by my midwives as a resource for lactation. I was excited to support a local business and find out about breastfeeding support offered here, but unfortunately, I left very disappointed. I went in with some questions specific to my breastfeeding needs. My questions were answered, but in a way that only one way was the right way. She did find something in back that was useful to me and I did purchase it, but I felt terrible after leaving this place. The owner was very cold and snooty, and maybe a little breastfeeding nazi-ish. She was very pushy about seeing a lactation consultant, and that it would be the only for me to accomplish breastfeeding. I think the lactation services are sort of expensive, and that maybe she could have offered other alternative support groups or services, like the La Leche League or the group that meets at New Seasons. I was under the impression that this was also a meeting place/resource for breastfeeding moms, because they offer different classes and such, but I did not feel much support, just pressure to see a consultant that I could not afford. Beyond that, there are some really cute clothes, and other nice products for mamas. I wouldn't go back to this place, for the sole reason of the snobbery and crappy vibe I felt.
