overpriced, poor quality and service..
I've been here 4 times now. Every time, I've been disappointed with the food -- but the setting (scenery) is great.
You'll wait sometimes 15 minutes before seeing your waiter. You'll then order steak, or ribs, and get very low quality meat poorly cooked (both the ribeye and filet are crap).
Such a cool place - they'd make a killing if they simply bought better food... wait, come to think of it, it's always quite busy in there. I guess they are making a killing now - selling low quality food at high quality prices. Well done, Stone Cliff! And I keep going there because it's a nice setting and there's nothing better in the area. heh, such is life.
Great Atmosphere and Food.
I have been there twice and both times were magical.
The first time I went with a group of 5 and the server was very friendly and funny. I got the cheeseburger and Samlon chowder soup, it was amazing. I should have split the burger with someone. We got there early enough that it was still light outside and the view was great! We walked on the deck which has tons of seating and took pictures.
The second time I took my mother in law there for lunch and again we had a great server who was friendly and funny (a different one from the first time).
We eneded up splitting the cheeseburger because she just had to try it. And we both got the salmon chowder which was just as good as the first time.
Amazing service+Amazing value WHAAAT??.
We have been everywhere this month on the search for the perfect date-night dinner. This place had it all! Although this restaurant is really known for the views and setting, it was rainy and dark so we really could only guess at what it would look like in the day, but the lights way up in the trees in the parking lot gave a nice ambiance. However even without the view, this place stood on its own.
From the moment we arrived we were greeted with above average service. As we approached our window seat in the corner we admired the rustic decorations accented by magnificently high natural stained log ceilings and walls. The mood was further set by romantic low lighting provided by a warm fire, and tastefully placed iron and cow hide chandeliers. Our server "Mitch" , was immediately table side offering the wine list and specials. We had the smoked salmon chowder and the asparagus and goat cheese salad as appetizers. The portion size and plating was spectacular. We also enjoyed the house Ale that was buttery and light and a bottle of their reasonably priced white wine. For the entree the Smoked cherry baby back ribs were to die for. Not to be outdone the Northwest Cioppino was melt in your mouth amazing. Truly blown away by the portion sizes, granted this was a lodge setting but what VALUE!, The portions were such that we had leftovers of everything at meals end. Excellent value, exceptional service and an amazing setting makes this a new date night favorite for this couple**
Very nice. We were very concerned after reading some reviews on here but had been told by several people that it was a great place to go. My wife had the salmon oscar and loved every bite. I had the grilled ribeye and it was wonderful. Slightly over the medium I ordered but so tender I could cut it with a fork. For those of you reading these reviews, it seems that everyone who thinks they are the best cook in the world, they can find fault in everything that they don't cook themselves. This was a wonderful dining experience.
very disappointing. We live close by and had been thinking of trying this restaurant for awhile. The only thing we liked was the surroundings and view. It started off odd as the hostess acted completely put out that we didnt have reservations, but was still able to seat us immediately. Then we sat there for 15 minutes before a server came over. There were many open tables, but they seemed very understaffed. I figured with a menu so small, the food must be really good, but I was wrong. It was bad. I had the ribs which had good flavor, but were really tough. My husband ordered a med rare steak that was well done and very tough. The garlic mashed potatoes were not good either. We felt very ripped off that we paid almost $100 for dinner and it wasn't at all good. The whole experience was a big let down!
WTF??. Ok, I thought the service was good, but i think we just got lucky. The food was absolutely horrible. I had the cioppino and it tasted like chefboyardee..no joke! i heard a lady complain next to me about the same thing. My daughter ordered a burger off the kids menu and it came with a preformed( obviously frozen) piece of meat between a stale bun. come on! no lettuce, tomato,or cheese?! she took one bite, i took the rest home for our dog. anyway, i thought about giving them another shot for brunch, but i'm feeling a little r*ped. we'll see....
A Family Birthday Dinner… Was a Homerun.
We went to Stone Cliff Inn for a birthday dinner, there were 9 of us. It was a home run; all the appetizer, dinners, and drinks were very nicely prepared, delivered hot and on time, each order was correct. The service with a very pleasant, and our server (I think her name is Jena) did a wonderful job, with a fun attitude and great smile and great service.
The meals were very well presented, full of very colorful vegetables, potatoes or risotto and the main dish. I had the Bourbon Sirloin cooked perfectly, rare just as I had ordered. The some of the other dishes we had were: Ginger Honey Glazed Salmon, Hazelnut Chicken, Fettuccine Marsala with Chicken. Everyone gave good comments on their meal.
We started with the Hummus Plate, Wild Salmon Cakes, Jumbo Onion Rings, Classic Caesar Salad. Again, they were all very tasty.
I read the review on Citysearch after I heard where we were going and I though “oh no”, but The Stone Cliff really came through to deliver a fantastic evening.
Stellar every time - a cool hideaway. We live out by the Stone Cliff Inn and found it because I had a work dinner out there (it's kind of hidden being that it's up on the edge of cliff). We've been back several times, both by ourselves and with guests from out of town. Each and every time we have a wonderful experience... the place is always relaxing and quiet, the food is delicious, the view spectacular, the drinks good, and the price is decent, too. This is one of our favorite nearby places to eat.
What a wonderful Valentine's day!.
My wife and I went to the Stone Cliff Inn last night for the first time in almost two years for Valentine's day dinner. Everything was wonderful! We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation and were greeted promptly by a hostess who let us know our table would not be ready for about 20 minutes. We understood because it was packed. We got a glass of wine from the bar where we met the manager and were seated about 10 minutes later. Our server was excellent, our water glasses never went empty and the food was excellent.
The regular menu looked good, but my wife and I decided to order off of the special menu. We had the appetizer, an imported meat and cheese board with assorted condiments served beautifully on a granite tile. My wife had filet mignon with a crab stuffed lobster tail, asparagus and fingerling potatoes, and I had a melt in your mouth cut of slow smoked prime rib with mashed potatoes, porcini mushroom au jus and horseradish sauce. Everything was cooked perfectly, presented artfully and served very quickly. The wine list is extensive and mostly from the North West, we chose a nice bottle of "next" Pinot Noir. The Special dessert, Champagne ice in a martini glass with raspberries and HUGE chocolate dipped strawberries filled with Grand Mariner was a very nice ending to a great meal. Two thumbs up to the Chef and cooks.
The night could not have been better, thank you Stone Cliff Inn. We will definitely return and look forward to sitting on the patio this summer!
this place just gets worst.
I Live very close to this restaurant and realy hoped with a new chef it would get better but Im sorry to report that its an even bigger joke than it used to be where did they get this fool .
We ordered 4 apitizers and 4 entrees and he did not get one thing right along with very slow service from a poorly trained waiter when we complained the chef came out to talk to us he was laughing when he informed us that it was his first week and that none of the staff he had were up to the job and he promised it would get better,
If the staff are no good this place should not be open let alone charging these kind of prices this place is a joke and the joke is on the poor customers I will never return
