My husband and I love La Rambla. The tapas and great and remind me of the food when I was in Spain. Very Authentic. Try the Tortilla Espana and the Bodegas platter. The service is always nice and fairly quick. If you are are planning to order many tapas ask to be seated at a larger table. Because there are only two of us we always get a small table and have little room to eat. Their wine list is pretty great too. A great place to take out of town friends.  View Less View More

So Bummed they cut portion sizes and quality. We are (were) big fans of La Rambla - probably eaten there 20 times. Just had a really poor evening there last night. They have slashed their portion sizes and food quality seems down. The famed Tempura green beans went from $8 to $6 they said, but also went from a portion size of nice for 4 people to maybe 10 or 12 green beans. It was like who took most of our order?? Calamari was small and crumbly and also a tiny reduced portion. The wait staff tried to fix it when we ask what happend to the food and brought more but the overall feel was they tried to take a price increase by cutting portion size and it has backfired big time. We were taking out of town guests out and it actually was embarrassing. Wat a drag that one of our favorites has fallen big time.  View Less View More

Nice setting, average food. I took my husband here for his birthday dinner. The place is really lovely and we were seated promptly. The bartender has no idea how to make a perfect Manhatten though. After first undrinkable attempt, our waiter brought another which was only marginally better (should've gone with a martini as the cocktail menu lists dozens of them). Waiter advised us that most people order "at least 2" of the small plates each and if we wanted more he could easily add it on at the end. fortunately we went with 2 plates each as they were average size servings. The fruit/nut/cheese/olive plate my husband ordered would easily have served as a little plate for 2. My salad was normal sized and unmemorable. Wine list was nice with many lovely by the glass selections. The biggest complaint was when my husband was served his hot food (some rather forlorn looking - though tasty - beef brochettes served on a white plate with no bit of color to greet the eye), I was told my hamburger would be along in "about 5 minutes". Sorry, NOT ACCEPTABLE FOLKS, it's a drag to watch your dining partner dig in while you twiddle your thumbs, equally a drag to think of waiting while your food goes cold just so you can dine together, which was sort of the point of the meal afterall. My burger was big and tasty and I couldn't finish it. All in all it was about what you'd pay for a burger and salad at any upscale place. A nice spot but not memorable enough for a special occasion meal.  View Less View More

Mixed Review. My wife and I dined at La Rambla on 8/1/08. We arrived for our 6:30 reservation only to have to wait outside because there was already a 4-top waiting just inside the door for their table. Issue #1: no waiting area for guests waiting for a table - not a big deal, but a little annoying. We were sat promptly, but in the bank of tables that offered no privacy. Issue #2: don't sit reservations along the bank of tables if it can be helped. It is not private at all and is very hard to carry on a conversation without your neighbors at the next table hearing most of what you say. Otherwise, the dining room is beautiful. Our waitress was nice, but completely forgot to tell us about the specials, which was frustrating after hearing the table next to use getting told the specials within five minutes of us order our first round of tapas. The food was good, not great, but good. Issue #3: tapas are typically small plates with intensely flavored food. The tapas at La Rambla were HUGE, easily enough for dinner. This made them a good value, but it was a little frustrating ordering 4 plates for two people and discovering that it was enough to feed twice as many people. The wait staff should let new diners know about the size of their tapas because it was very different that any other tapas restaurant that we have ever dined at. The roasted beet and spinach salad was very tasty. The boneless lamb was tender, but rather bland, as were the croquettes with the mango salsa. I guess we were expecting more intense flavors. Other diners ordered the paella, which looked very tasty. 4 tapas (2 cold, 2 warm) + 4 drinks (2 each) + tip = $96, which is pretty darn reasonable. Overall, it was a good experience, but it could have been better if we had ordered a bit less and had had a more private table.  View Less View More
