Great food and service!.
We have been going to Su Casa for quite a while and always enjoyed it. However, the new owners have really stepped up to make it a bit more aesthetically pleasing (although there is still a ways to go both inside and out to make it truly inviting), and while we miss a couple of items from the original menu, the new menu is excellent. The Pollo a la Crema is delicious - rich and flavorful - and the seafood always tastes very fresh. The mole sauce, while a little inconsistent - sometimes it's better than other times, is as close to homemade as we've been able to find anywhere in Portland. The margaritas are tasty and potent. You definitely get your moneys worth! Service is excellent - an extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff.
I highly recommend Su Casa to anyone who loves real, homemade Mexican food!
feed me more. love it! It is amazing and all the employees are super nice. I go there all the time and everything is always amazing. We have huge groups all together and they are really accommodating.
Awesome Mexican Food. This place may be a little rough around the edges, but the food is great. They have wonderful salsa the seafood stuffed rellenos are delicious. I've tried about everything on the menu. The green enchiladas are outstanding, as are the rellleno burritos. Service can be spotty, but typically you get your food quickly. Friendly service.
Different owners, different food. I had previously written a review for Su Casa and given it 5 stars. I went back tonight and found that it was under new ownership. They were very friendly and eager to help. Their salsa, rice, and beans were good but I was disappointed with the cheese enchiladas. I'm not sure the exact name of the cheese that the "old" Su Casa used to use in their enchiladas, but it wasn't the globby, gooey kind that's typically in enchiladas. I'd loved it because I didn't leave feeling bloated and stuffed. The new owners use run of the mill gooey cheese. They tasted pretty good, but without the enchiladas of the previous owners, the main reason I loved Su Casa is gone. They also didn't have their liquor license yet so no margaritas. Overall, the food was pretty good, the service is friendly, and I like supporting neighborhood places so I'll probably go back, but my search for the best Mexican restaurant is back on.
Best In Portland!. My wifes favorite food is Mexican. So we have tried many different places and this one hits the top of the list. Just don't judge the book by it's cover it doesn't look like much from the outside. The food is not drenched in cheese and is so fresh! You should really try it! Great service too.
Best home-made tamales in Portland!. I've been going to Su Casa Mex. Rest. about a month after they opened. Scince then every other restaurant I have gone to doesn't have an Authentic taste brought from Mexico. I lived in Portland for about 6 years and I am sooo happy that I finally found a Mexican Restaurant that doesn't have the entree flooding in cheddar cheese but only sprinkled with flacky, white Queso Fresco (Mexican Cheese). They have a very tasteful menu, for example, the tamales they have are made from scratch and the refried beans are just like my abuelas over in Mexico. Their seafood choices are amaizing! My favorite meal is Chicken Fajitas with a refreshing Pina Colada in a REAL pinapple. Best of all the service is great. How cool!? My 2 year old son loves the tacos!
Authentic centeral Mexican food from central Mexico. The food is really good... really really good. The atmosphere is not the best, but again the food is good. The prices are good, and the service is decent. Great place to take a family. For great Mexican food in North Portland I would have to say give this place a try. I have taken many different groups here and everyone has always been very happy with it.
