Diamond in the Rough! :). Love this place :) The food is fresh & very good.

I'm not really into "ethnic" food, (so i stick to their basic chicken breast bowl with rice & their salad) but since my husband is, its nice to know of a place where all the food on the menu doesnt taste or look like its from a different planet lol ;) It's certainly not a "fancy" dinning experience, but the staff is decently friendly and the place is clean :)

The best Teriyaki around. This place is a great, lunch style Japanese/Korean restaurant. Their food is fresh, consistent, and delicious. They have always had a friendly staff; clean and unpretentious atmosphere, and the best original recipe sauces and dressings I've tried. If I'm not sure where to eat, I go here and have been for five years now. My favorite meal is the # 52 - half spicy teriyaki chicken, half teriyaki pork, and substitute the rice for more salad.

Busy lunch stop. I love a good chicken bento, and was moderately happy with Joy Teriyaki. I stopped by for a to-go lunch on a Monday, and was surprised at just how busy it was. All of the tables were full, and it was obviously a neighborhood favorite. I ordered the #1 combination meal, which included a great little lettuce salad with yummy asian dressing, and a really really generous portion of chicken breast, white rice, and teriyaki sauce. I believe the cast was $6.25 (maybe $6.75?). It would have easily fed two people. The quality was good, but not great. The chicken wasn't as lean as some teriyaki places I've been to. Don't expect to be bowled over in amazement, but it is a great place to pick up a meal if you are out on 181st ave.

Best Japanese takeout. I have been eating here for more than two years now. I've taken friends and family here many times, and it is an instant favourite. This is by far the best Japanese takeout I have ever had. Their California rolls are almost as good as they are at a sushi place, and their egg rolls are the best I've ever had. I usually have Chicken Yakiudon, and the blend of noodles, vegetables and sauce is amazing every time. I will miss Joy Teriyaki when I leave Portland. They have the nicest employees too, very sweet and helpful.

Check your to go order before leaving!. We order from here a lot for lunch take outs. I always order the same thing, yaki-soba with no veg with chicken. Everytime it comes with veggies anyway, which is really irritating. Make sure you check your order before you leave!
