High end seafood place for upscale Lloyd district fans. Dependable food and service, but atmosphere isn't AMAZING. Just nice.

We keep coming back. We eat there often and take friends and family from out of town - it's affordable, comfortable, and consistent. The service has always been great and not at all rushed. The food is fresh and well prepared. We've tried almost everything on the menu, and the only thing I wouldn't order again would be the crab stuffed prawns - they're kinda blah, but the coconut prawns are tasty. The pastas are terrific - al dente and delicious sauces. The salads are served icy cold and crispy - my favorite is the Bay Shrimp Iceberg Wedge Louis - it's entree size, so they split it for us and it's a great starter. The burgers are juicy and flavorful. All the seafood tastes very fresh and is cooked to perfection. The crispy calamari is just that, and very tender. The pan fried oysters were surprisingly well prepared (they're often over-cooked and rubbery at other places) but these were so tender and well seasoned - just yummy. The lemon garlic chicken is juicy and served with the best mushroom/wine sauce..... So, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good value, well prepared food, good service (plus it's close to home for us.)

was a little worried finding out it was a "newport bay" restaurant, but was stunned at the quality and great service!!!!. My fiance and I were driving on Broadway to find a dining spot that was new to us, and decided to get seafood. We stumbled across the Newport Seafood Grill and gave it a try. The decor is a little silly, lamps made to look like sail material and life-rafts, and art on the walls that my 11 year old could have painted better. The booths, tables and bar were very well done, a clean adn open kitchen with a visible ice display area with freash sushi, raw oysters, clams, etc. The drop lighting is beautiful, the waitstaff is well dressed. [not the usual portland youth] . The various martini flavors are awesome [although a little spendy] The calamari was perfectly cooked, not at all rubbery, it was tender and the batter was so light and crispy, good stuff. I had stuffed prawns [butterflied prawns stuffed with crab, scallops, bay shrimp and spices. The flavor was suberb, but I have to say that the shrimp didn't have the fresh texture I would have preferred. My honey had a steak perfectly cooked to temp, we shared a bottle of affordable yet delicious red wine [the recommendation of our server] and shared some poirt and aged scotch after our meal. Overall the experience was super, so good in fact that I took my mother there for lunch the next day. She and I shared a fantastic baked alaskan halibut that was SO flaky and delicate, and the most delictable steamer clams ever! At first I was sceptical with it being by the same company as the Newport Bay chain, but to my happy surprise it was the Newport Bay's newer, shinier, more swanky sibling with better taste and ambiance.
