Awesome Montavilla coffee shop. I don't care what some people say, this place is great. They serve Stumptown coffee and they don't make you wait. The pies, cookies and pastries are delish!!

I so want to like this place!. I want to like this place so much. It's right in my neighborhood, it's the perfect place to walk to on a Sunday morning. The sandwiches are delightful, the coffee good, the environment is fun - but the staff are so unfriendly. There are maybe two people there who have ever been friendly with me, and I go quite frequently. I'm used to the too cool hipster barista phenomena rampant in the greater PDX area, but this is slightly worse - sometimes I apologize for asking them for anything. And I never get a smile or thank you. It's just so sad, because I want to love my neighborhood coffee shop! It has the potential to be awesome.

Great place for coffee and pie. This is a great cafe for family and friends, the coffee is delicious and so is the pie. I enjoy bringing my son there on our way to Mount Tabor.

Best Cafe in Portland. I am a frequent patron of The Bipartisan Cafe. I spend my money there 2 or 3 times a week because it feels like home. The food is great and reasonably priced, the coffee is excellent, and the employees are not only friendly and accommodating, they make coffee with an expert touch. The clientele is a wonderful mix of young hipsters, Bible school students, parents, and kids. The space is comfortable and the music is usually excellent. I have spent many hours here working solo, chatting with friends, and watching political events on the TV that only comes out on those occasions. I can't think of a friendlier, cozier home away from home.

Worst music in the world. lots of screaming brats. staff are cheerful, some patrons are irresponsible parents who let there children scream constantly.. Coffee is okay but not worth sitting through the terrible music they play. I like that it is child friendly but some parents really need to deal with their children when they scream for five minutes straight. If the parents won't do anything about it the staff should.

40 minutes for a bagel sandwich?. I've lived down the street from the Bipartisan for 2 years now, and I go because its the only place around that I can get a bagel or bagel sandwich to go. Not anymore -- today I waited 40 minutes for a sandwich because 1. there are only 2 people making sandwiches. 2. the moron announcing it's arrival called it something else. 3. by the time i stared down the coffee guy and we figured out that the bag on the counter that sat for 15 minutes was mine, part of my life had ticked away due to a poorly run, badly managed, unhelpful staff. Unacceptable!!! I could've whipped up a 7-course breakfast buffet bonanza in that amount of time.

Somewhere there's a bagel shop that'll give me my order in less than 10 minutes. I just know it exists somewhere here in portland. Right?

Awesome Coffee Shop if You Can Tolerate the Poor Service. **UPDATED REVIEW** I wrote the below review a few months ago. I'm not sure what happened at Bipartisan but they are a much friendlier and happier place lately. This is by far my favorite coffee shop and I'm sad I will be moving and not able to continue to enjoy the great eats and delicious coffee every day.

**OLD REVIEW**

This could be the perfect coffee shop if it weren't for the poor service. The coffee at Bipartisan is excellent and so are the pastries, bagel sandwiches, and other eats. The atmosphere is also nice - you can spend an hour inside and not realize it. Unfortunately, before you have that first sip of coffee or bite of your morning scone, you have to interact with a grumpy, slow-moving, overworked employee. I think the owner needs to hire a few more workers or give the current ones some time off or something. The service definitely leaves something to be desired. If you were greeted with a smile occasionally or they showed a little more effort to get your food out to you in a timely manner this would be the perfect coffee shop!
