Editorial Review for REI – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
The largest co-op in the nation, REI sells everything needed to survive in the outdoors to members and non-members alike: sleeping bags for below-zero temperatures, GPS units, climbing gear, rations and more. For the more casual outdoor enthusiast, the store also sells tents, kayaks, bicycles, snowboards, skis, luggage, footwear and outdoors-oriented clothing for men, women and children.

If you don't like paying the painfully high prices, wait until they have sales. Sign up for their catalog and they'll include you in decisions about the board. Their online discounts are awesome as well as their email promotions. Aside from the obnoxious people you'll have to endure while inside the store, the value really is worth it. *you can also try things out there but then buy them online later on for cheaper! was I not supposed to say that?

Pros: Good selection

Cons: people with kids that have more expensive clothes than i do

Seven years ago I purchased a mini wardrobe predominantly from R.E.I. for a month long mountain climbing excursion. Since that initial abuse, these clothes have received regular rotation for cooler seasons, mini hikes, neighborhood walks, the humdrum normalcy of everyday life, but seven years none the less. When I purchased these items I considered them moderately to ever so slightly high priced. After witnessing their wear I would call them a steal. They are in just as good condition as the day I got them.

Pros: i challenge you to wear the products out. do it.

Cons: chain guilt
