Editorial Review for Bumblekiss – by Annamaria Pardini
In Short
The diminutive dining room is juicy orange and sunny yellow with contrasting dark-brown trim. Gal-pals, couples and families sip coffee and mango iced tea at tables topped with vases of whimsical felt flowers. Breakfast plates include scrambles and omelets, thick cinnamon-swirl French toast and eggs Benedict on a biscuit. The lunch menu, also available anytime, has soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches and dishes like curried chicken or tofu over jasmine rice.

Mr Rose and I have eaten here several times. It can get a bit crowded in the tiny main room and the service is sometimes a bit spotty - or dipsy, maybe? If you're willing to put up with a rather eccentric wait-staff and a possibly long wait, however, the food is well worth it. I particularly recommend the lavender-coconut scones. I wouldn't recommend this establishment to families with small children. It's too cramped and the few times we've been in there when a little one finally loses patience with the whole thing and lets loose a banshee cry, everyone in the small room gets deafened.
Pros: Great food
Cons: Sometimes long waits, cramped quarters.

We were very excited to try this place for breakfast on Sunday and anticipated a wait. When we arrived, we put our name down (2 adults, 1 child) for the inside section (the garage was dismal inside, cold even with the outdoor heater, but still packed). We were told about a 20 minute wait. At about 15 min, we checked and were told 2 parties of 2 still ahead of us. There are only 2 tables in the main seating area (non-garage) that accommodate more than 2 people. One of the tables of 4 opened up but they sat a party of TWO there! The other table of 4 hadn't even been served their food yet. We were then told we COULD sit in the garage at a table of 2 and they would add a space for our child (the other party of 2 ahead of us wanted the inside). We agreed to the garage, but then in walked the other party and sat down. Guess they didn't want the interior after all. But then the staff refused to seat us at a table of 2 on the inside and said we would have to wait for one of the tables of 4 to open up--surely at least another 30+ minutes. WHAT??? Couldn't stick around for that. Hopefully they'll wisen up to seat larger parties at the larger table since the wait for a small table is so much shorter. Staff absolutely unapologetic about giving us mixed messages and poor treatment.
