my friend from thailand told me that if i wanted to try authentic thai food, there was only restaurant to try on the west coast, and that was pok pok. (i had already read that its fish sauce wings had been voted one of the top 10 dishes in the u.s. by food and wine magazine.) i think the reason why so many portlanders wait so long in line for this place's chow is the cullinary genius that goes into the preparation of this spicy thai street food. the flank steak salad and boar collar with sticky rice + mojito is now my favorite meal in portland. when i bring friends from out of town out to eat, this is where i bring them. it is totally brilliant. hope they bring their pomegranate cai pirinha back soon :)

Read all the reviews in Portland City guide which is generally a good proxy for what to expect in terms of food, service and dining experience. But Pok Pok, Poor Poor. It did not live up to the hype or for the first time the associated reviews. Poor start from the person at the front desk, handed off to a waiter, showed our seats on a ramshackled balcony. Service was in general mediocre I think the balcony takes 2nd best to the dining room. Food, which really brought us to this eatery, was, below average. The menu does not do a good job in letting the customer know about the flavors. I ordered the Banana leaf curry and it smelt like something from a pet store, and was inedible. Food was warmish and I put it down to waiting for the server to do their stuff in the main dining room and then as an after thought server the balcony. Long story short, save your money much better restaurants in the immediate Division area and much more customer oriented.
