This impossibly cramped, low-ceilinged hole-in-the-wall draws Mexican-cuisine-loving locals of all sorts, from Northeast neighborhood retirees to Mississippi hipsters and dudes with Rastafari dreads. Kitschy antique wall mirrors, coke bottl vases, and mix-and-match tables and chairs make up the eclectic decor. But it's the kitchen's authentic Oaxacan cuisine--handmade tortillas, juicy carnitas, and fresh ceviche--not the oddball scene that convinces clientele to brave this shack's constant crowds again and again.

The fact that this is near my house makes it a bi-weekly stop for me. I can't get enough of it. The Brian's Bowl with grilled chicken is a must. And try the cucumber slices with guacamole. It's amazing. Yes, there's normally a line, but it's well worth the wait. Oh! I almost forgot... they do fresh juices that can be added to their margarita... DELICIOUS! The carrot-passion fruit is my favorite. :)

The food was tasty but not worth the money. I honestly just felt duped. I prefer Super Torta or any taco truck around, especially Torres De Morelos on Powell. Don't buy into the Hawthorne Hype! My entire meal was $19, and that is one drink, two tacos, and tip. The margarita was Fabulous, as it should have been for $8.50. That's why I give this place two stars.

Yummy food, everything looked and smelled great. I ordered chips and guac and black bean soup to go. All was delicious, just spicy enough and yum yum yummy. Also, coke in glass bottles from Mexico (with cane sugar, not high fructose corn syrup, more yum).
