I'm so excited that Shannon's there on Saturdays now!. I love this salon! The owner created me with mimosas on Saturday morning :). Shannon did an amazing job on this curly, like always. If anyone's looking for someone who can rock your difficult, curly hair, go see Shannon!

Talented hair artist. I went to Amber, after a series of terrible hair experiences, and after some careful questions, Amber produced a hair work-of-art. Not only, was it exactly what I was looking for, but she excluded the confidence and professionalism I needed, all while being a whole lot of fun. I just appreciate Amber so much, and would whole-heartedly recommend her to anyone.

Kristi is a rockstar!. I have been a client of Kristi's for nearly four years now, she is amazing! She listens to everything you have to say, gives her input, and makes sure you both are on the same page before getting down to business. She really takes the time to make sure you get what you want and I never feel rushed. This miracle worker was able to get my hair a beautiful natural-looking light ash blonde after previously dying it a dark auburn color! Not only is she incredibly talented, but she is very down to earth and it is so much fun to sit in her chair! She recently moved over to Akemi Salon, and this location is perfect! It is in an eco-friendly building and they are cruelty-free! There are great big windows that open to a bamboo-lined patio and let in a ton of natural lighting. Akemi has the aesthetics and stylist talent of a high-end salon without the pretentious attitudes and ridiculous costs! A great and talented stylist at a perfectly Portland spot!

Best hairstylist ever!. Denice saved my hair and continues to keep it fresh. I first saw Denice several years ago to fix a bad hair mistake. I had suggested to my former stylist to add in ?a little of my natural color? and instead of thinking of how it might look the stylist did a fine weave of dark brown and light blond: i.e. grey! That stylist could not correct it. A friend saw my distress (and my hair!!!) and suggested Denice with the recommendation of ?no one I have ever sent her has been disappointed? She was right. Denice quickly fixed the ?grey? and since then she has been blessing me with the hottest cut and best color I have ever had! Denice rocks!

Tame my big hair. Suzzette knows how to tame my mane, which is no easy feat. The salon is relaxing, I love the spot and I always get an amazing haircut!

If you have curly hair, you must see Suzette!. I have super thick, curly hair and I've had some terrible hair cuts in the past. I heard of Suzette from a friend, and I will never go to another stylist. She cuts it dry, shaping each curl, then gives a full spa experience complete with warm facial towel while my hair gets a deep conditioning treatment. And the price can't be beat. For such a great cut, I'd pay far more (don't get any ideas, Suzette!). Please give Akemi Salon a try!

Best Cut Ever. Suzette is fantastic. A good friend who knows everyone in town said: "Go see Suzette" she cuts and colors hair better than anyone alive! So I abandoned my stylist of 20 years, who was no longer in driving range and landed at Akemi Salon. What a trip. Not only did she clean up and color my ever shrinking hair, but also provided good beer and entertainment. The atmosphere is relaxing and professional. Suzette takes time, explores what you really want and then does her hair thing in an artistic; albeit, professional manner. I recommend a trip to Akemi and Susette to anyone with tonsorial needs.

akemi and denise - top shelf. there are some things in life that really irk me, bad coffee and bad haircuts are top of the list and having someone that is passionate and experienced with hair is pretty awesome. i've had about a dozen haircuts with denise and she has always been super. comfy-relaxed, non-ikea'd atmosphere, delightful little space, serious attention to detail, and her recommendations have always been right on. its the type of place that makes me want to get my hair cut more often. hesitant to be too loud about this place as to not spoil it for myself, i probably never would have logged on here and typed this if it weren't for an e-ffing terrible experience at douche-uh (the aveda ass-spa) that made me realize just how fortunate i am.

Akemi's Sarah is the best in town. I had gone to many stylists around town and now have found Sarah! She is amazing with the scissors, and is reasonably priced too. I've finally found a stylist that I can stick with! She even has evening and weekend hours.

The salon is great, they offer wine and all of the ladies are friendly and welcoming.

If you are new to town or looking for a new look, Sarah at Akemi is it!

Suzette @ Akemi is the B-E-S-T!. I can not say enough about how great of a stylist Suzette is. Even at 5:30 after a long long day, she still put cute and amazing red highlights in my hair and I love it! While your conditioner is on, she will offer you a warm aromatherapy towel for your face. It's like heaven. She's also great with cuts and style. She's going to do my "wedding hair in a few weeks!" Of course, I found her through Food Fight Grocery cuz I'm vegan and having a cruelty free salon in Portland is awesome. But her talent is as notable as her ethics!! Plus while you wait you can have a little drinky-drink. All so good. And worth every dime.
