Great atmosphere!. Wonderful stylists! My appointment was with Allison and not only was she great at listening to what I wanted she had great suggestions & was extremely reasonable!! I won't be seeing anyone else!

Great salon - total experience!!!!. Outstanding is really the only word I can come up with. Suzette does hair RIGHT! She is an amazing stylist, and so talented with color. But the best thing is she understands what I need. I can put myself in her hands, and know she will take care of me. She listens to me, and somehow makes sense of what I tell her. She is an artist! I also love all the personal touches......the beverages, the warm facial towels, the yummy smells. Wonderful!

The salon is beautiful. They did such a nice job making it warm and inviting with a total eclectic edge. I love this place!

Best Haircuts/Styles Anywhere.. Suzette has been cutting my finnicky hair for the past four years and she is amazing. She has an amazing ability to make my listless hair look amazing. I had to have my hair cut by someone else for six months while I was living in Hawaii and I can't tell you how disappointed I was or how lucky I felt to come home and get a good hair cut. Vegans, this is your place. Cruelty free and Suzette really cares about animal. If you're looking for a fabulous hair cut/style this is your place.

I heart this salon. There are so many things I love about this salon. First and foremost, my stylist, Suzette is the best! She is amazing when it comes to me and my ever changing mind about what I want my hair to look like. Trust me, if you ever want to go blond, Suzette is the ONLY person you should trust to come at you with bleach. And if you have a slight allergy to said bleach, no worries!! Suzette is a miracle worker and has all the potions needed to protect you and your tender scalp. Then, when you change your mind again she's right there with you suggesting the most GORGEOUS colors to make you pretty pretty! Oh, how I love that lady!! (By the way, she is amazing with the scissors too!! She always has a a stylish response to my "oh, I don't know, just cut something")

Then there is the salon itself. This place is everything I have looked for in a salon. It's small (you don't have to yell to be heard over a million hair dryers), it has a lot of natural light and the stylists are all very friendly. The decor is beautiful; my favorite parts are the vintage vanities in place of your typical "stations" and the big roll up door looking out onto a tranquil garden. And the VERY BEST part of all? I know that every single product Suzette puts on me is cruelty free!!

(PS: One Word--MIMOSA. Tasty!)

Suzette is amazing. I love Akemi Salon. It is small salon so you don't feel jostled around like you do at some big salons. It is a beautiful and relaxing place to get your hair done. Suzette always is willing to try anything I want on my hair. She listens and we talk about how it will look and how it will work for me. She really takes her time and thinks about how it will work on me. I love that kind of attention. Big thumbs up here!

a Ten. Really.. I love this new salon and I love the gals who made it happen. Akemi feels just like home ( only better), right down to the vintage vanities as workstations and the excellent mid afternoon mimosas. I followed Sarah to Akemi because she knows how to give my hair just the right edge and I always, always feel fabulous when I walk out her door. I love her so much that even though I moved 1200 miles away, I travel back and visit the salon for my cuts. This salon is unpretentious and fun to be in. The stylists are all wizards ( as in, they can make magic happen), they are experienced women who know everything there is to know about good lookin hair. All my friends go there and we rave about eachothers newest color, or how amazingly well that perm is holding up... Ahhh the curls...nobody does them better. I love my new cut and I had a real swell time at my last appointment. Can't wait for my next trip back to portland and my next appointment with Sarah. This place is a gem.

Suzzette is the best!. It's been a couple years now that I have been going to Suzzette. She is great and does the best cuts and color I have ever had. When you start getting compliments from strangers, you know you're going to the right stylist. I can't recommend Suzzette more highly. She's a perfectionist about her work, yet at the same time manages to create a warm atmosphere that feels like visiting a good friend, who just happens to be a genius as a stylist. On top of that, Akemi is an ethical, animal friendly salon, which makes me love them even more! People should support businesses that exercise such ethics, especially in a world where so many companies just don't care. So, you can see why there was no question about following Suzzette when she and a partner opened their own salon. Try them out, you won't regret it!

A great opportunity to pamper yourself guilt-free. I can't believe I've never seen this idea before--a cruelty-free beauty salon. I always buy beauty products that say they don't test on animals, and now I can go to a stylist who is doing the same thing. Plus, I love how suzette does my hair--she's great with color! I never write reviews on these things, but I just had to comment on this place. Bravo.
