Clean, sorta crowded, but still worth the hassle. Very friendly and beautiful women everywhere.
The best strip club in Portland. I run a Party BUS Limo Company and if I take my customers here I get tiped out at least two times what I would have got! Driving in the Limo business for many years you can tell the good clubs, when people stay and come out talking about the good time they had.
Don't patronize Casa Diablo. Pirates Tavern reopened as a strip bar named Casa Diablo. It is owned by a guy named Johnny who inappropriately touches the dancers and tries to coerce them to sleep with him. My friend refused and was subsequently treated poorly and later fired. Johnny also told her that sleeping with him is required to get on the cover of the Casa Diablo "newsletter". The place is usually dead, but it is frequented by old hippies who don't tip the dancers. Definitely do not patronize this establishment.
Update on the Update. Yes, Pirates Tavern closed..... Sort of. It is still owend and operated by the same folks and still has vegan food. But now it's called Casa Diablo and is a smoke-free strip club. So, if you don't mind women disrobing while you eat, it's still the place to get some tofu based apetizers in the NW industrial district.
Update. I have not had the chance to experience this establishment. However, I am writing this update to let others who may be looking for it know they closed for business in December of 07 for good. I wish I'd had the chance to check it out.
a great idea "improved" not so much.
they just reopened after a week long remodel. The menu went from varied to plain...in fact its no better than any other "vegan friendly" restaruant. Maybe 6 items on the lunch menu. The staff isnt dressed up anymore and overall the way toned down the pirate theme. Dont know if this is good or bad. What is bad is that there is no longer anything special about the establishment.
They said they couldnt provide speedy service with the old menu, but if they dont bring back some of those things then I see no reason to go....
Best Vegan resturant. This restaurant has it all. Awesome food, great atmosphere, family friendly, and Beer. My son has several food allergies and it is nice to go to a restaurant where he can go and order anything on the menu. Plus it was pirate themed, what more can you ask for? Vegan and non-vegan people will love the food and the selection. It was fresh and delicious. The perogies and alfredo sauce was delicious. Their salads are great. Our family will definitely be eating there again and telling are friends about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good vegan comfort food in a fun atmosphere. I visited the Pirate's Tavern with my 2 children, husband and mother-in-law. Everyone enjoyed the tasty comfort food and the pirate theme. The beers were a little bit large, but I'm not complaining about that. We're looking forward to going back on one of the Pirate Nights and dressing up and listening to some good music. The owner told us that he's in the process of making the place dog-friendly and will soon have an outdoor eating area for people with pooches.
I'm not even Vegan - but I LOVE the food!. A friend convinced me to try this place and I am so glad she did! I had the most delicious food, and I was so surpised that it was vegan. They have a great variety of things to choose from, the staff is friendly and funny and we felt very welcomed. The pea soup was really thick and delicious and the salisbury steak was so good, it has a rich smoky sort of flavor. They make their own "meat" right there. DEFINITELY try something with their Terra sauce on it, it was amazing. You'll really enjoy the place, and if you dress like a pirate, on certain nights of the week they'll give you a discount. Parking is great, service was fast and although it may seems like it's a bit off the beaten track, it took no time at all to get there. As they mature, I'm hoping they'll get even more interesting pirate souvenirs to decorate the place, but what they have is fun and very old and historic. They have live music on some nights of the week, but I was there on a Monday, so there wasn't any. Definitely try this place!!
Kitschy bar and restaurant in the Industrial District offers bona fide vegan eats, organic wines and live music..
In Short
If the name of this place doesn't give away this bar's kooky theme, the treasure chests of faux gold and servers dressed in buccaneer garb will. But there's more here than just décor: The menu is filled with vegan versions of carnivore favorites, including fake-chicken caccitore, lasagna, shish kebabs, jerked tofu pasta and Salisbury steak. Wines and suds are also eco-friendly with 40 organic vinos and four drafts to choose from.
