Happy hour happiness!. Ok, so.... I LOVE this place. The spicy tuna hand rolls are super, as is everything else I've tried. The fancy cocktails are worth the splurge, not too sugary, and the atmosphere and service is nice. Good job!

Not so much!. Went to bamboo on the recommendation of A&E. So after being seated and getting our first app. We realized we were expecting much more from the place than it had to offer. The sushi was just OK not amazing, their menu was blowing a lot of we're so " Green" at you. I didn't really need to see a whole menu of it. i understand we need to respect our planet but bamboo must be on a payroll somewhere as much as they express it. the rest of our meal was nothing impressive things I've had plenty of times before at a lot of other places. And the desserts aren't as amazing as the A&E states. The owner must be donating a bunch of cash or something as sprung as they were on the place. Don't think I'm going anywhere on the recommendation of the A&E any time soon.

Exceptional. My friends and I went to Bamboo Sushi for the first time the other night to celebrate a friend's engagement. I had heard great things about the restaurant before I went but the experience far exceeded my expectations. Having grown up eating at the top sushi restaurants around the country, I'm not easily impressed (at the risk of sounding like a snob). However, the sushi quality was exceptional and unlike any Portland has to offer. Other sushi restaurants in town have consistently disappointed me but this restaurant rivals anything I've had in Los Angeles and New York. The knowledgeable staff couldn't have been more gracious. It's nice to know I can finally get world-class sushi in Portland and I don't have to feel bad about destroying the oceans (added bonus).

too puff puff. We wanted sushi and our friends told us to meet them at Bamboo. I usually go to Yuki. Its cheesy, but isn't that part of the whole deal anyway? The restaraunt was busy, but not too bad. A huge banner announcing it as the first sustainable restaraunt in Portland was draped over the dining room. I mean really. I'm kinda over the whole "green" Thing. I get it. Cant I go out to eat and not have advertising? Anyhoo, the service was ok, and the food was good. The problem arose when I didn't get the salad I ordered. I told the waiter and he just looked at me and told me that yeah, the salad I had ordered was really good. but didnt offer to get it for me or take away the wrong one. No apology either. He didn't even offer to buy the wrong salad for me. It was too tragically hip in there. Quite the scene. I get it, there is a market for that kind of place but it was expensive and lets face it, the customer service was lacking. I wish them luck. In this economy it doesn't matter how Green you are, Its how you treat people.. Probably wont go back.

pooooop on a plate. The sushi chefs were snobby and think their horrible sushi it the best ever, go to japan and get some real training by a humble professional

The Best!!. Such a nice surprise! We live near by and wanted some sushi, so we walked over to try it out. Amazing from the decor to the staff, and did I say that the food was the best I have ever had at a Japanese Restaurant! We had the Happy Hour Menu, so cheap for the quality you get. Our Bartenders name was Michael, he really impressed us with their selction of Liquors and infused vodikas. Check what the drink of the day is! I had a Passionfruit Cosmo.... Sublime! The California Rolls were to die for.. Just GO, you won't be sorry!

Best Sushi in PDX...Period. Seriously, this is the best sushi in Portland, hands down. I have been coming here for a little over a year, when it was still Masu East, and now that it is Bamboo Sushi, it is even better. I hadn't been for a couple months, but when I read the negative review before this one, I thought, "oh no" has my Masu East been ruined by the transition to Bamboo, I had to go for myself and find out. Turns out that not only has it not been ruined, it has been improved upon tremendously. It is fully sustainable (AWESOME!!) the fish is the freshest in the city, and the staff couldn't be nicer and more attentive. When it was Masu East it was good, sometimes great. Now it is truly excellent. I live on the West side of PDX and make the drive over simply because there is no better experience in town for this type of cuisine. So, after eating here before Bamboo Sushi and now eating here as Bamboo Sushi, I give it two thumbs way up!! Still the best...now by a long ways :)

two thumbs down!. I went there! I tried it! I didnt understand there sustainble concept! didnt enjoy the food, atmosphere or attitude, and i won't be back. i want my sushi that everyone else serves not a mask of fakeness with extra garnish to raise the flavor. keep trying boys but give up before u break the bank. sorry! just in town for a bit and wanted to try something good thought it would be different.

Favorite!. This is my favorite sushi place in Portland, and it happened by accident. My boyfriend and I were going to Yokos sushi for his birthday one night, but they closed an hour early. Frustrated because that happens very often we went to Masu East, and I have been going there ever since. Everyone that works there is beyond too sweet. The owner, the manager, the chefs, the waiters! Oh, and the place is beautifully done! I don't think that the sushi is expensive, but obviously if you're used to "sushiland" type prices then of course. The quality of food at Masu East is wonderful, plus they give free edamame as an appetizer.

ps. the bathroom has fun hand dryers.
