Northwest industrial architecture and southwestern warmth blend well in this high-ceilinged restaurant, which features an open kitchen and large bar area. Bold green and mustard walls are sparsely decorated with glowing devotional candles, kachina dolls and iconic art. NoPo neighbors feast on heaping plates of slow-cooked sofrito lamb, fried sopapillas stuffed with chunks of red-chili beef and spicy enchiladas topped with fried eggs. The signature dessert is a sweet, milk-soaked tres leches cake.

Encanto closed in December 2008. Cafe Cubano has now opened in the former Encanto space. Cafe Cubano doesn't seem to have its own listing yet in Citysearch.

When this place first opened they had a great happy hour so we wanted to try it out. The drinks were well priced and they had a few appetizers that were fairly cheap. The beat salad was great as was the queso fundido. I highly recommend you check this place out.

What to Drink:
The tasty El Diablo is a tall concoction of Milagro tequila, creme de cassis and muddled lime with a splash of ginger ale, while the El Dorado is a seductive mix of Sauza Hornitos tequila, muddled lemon and honey.
Save Money:
Come for reduced-price drinks and a special bar menu, 3pm-5pm and 11pm-1am, daily.
Where to Sit:
There is a giant patio out back perfect for enjoying the sun--whenever Portland's weather allows it.
