I'd like to recommend this shop, but I can't based on my experience. I think prices are fair, but communication is horrible and quality of work may be spotty. Here goes. I emailed John with a list of things my car needed. He told me $600 for all. Sounded good, so I took it in. They never let me know when my car was done, I had to keep calling. When I was finally told it was done and ready to pick up, I went in to find that they had only done one of the things I had requested. Otherwise, they just did whatever the hell (pardon me) they wanted. Never called to seek any kind of authorization. They surprised me with a bill for $800 itemizing the things that I didn't ask for, and in some cases would NOT have authorized. The total disregard of my repair requests and total presumption to proceed with what they wanted to fix amazes me. And, the work quality did not turn out ideal. They fixed a dash light with the the wrong color, so now my dash displays half in white and half in green. They also didn't get the dash back together right (one part hanging out rather than tucked in). How could they say they care about the quality of their work and not go back to correct those things. And, they replaced the throttle position sensor ($165) just because the car idled a bit too fast when cold. It hasn't been right since. At slow throttle it gets jerky. I can't swear that's the cause, but it never did that before.I would have much rather lived with a fast idle for a few minutes than jerky throttle response everyday in rush hour traffic. To be fair, this happened sometime back. But although a bit more expensive, I'll go to another shop that is great about communicating rather than gamble on Sunnyside ignoring my requests and deciding on their own that they want to do to my car.…

Misdiagnosis that cost me $1,300.
I was haveing a problem with my van stumbling during the warm up process. I replaced many parts and it didn't correct the issue.
I took it in to Sunnyside Automotive on 152nd and Sunnyside road in Clackamas and asked them to scope it.
the next day they called me and said it had a blown intake gasket and it would cost $1,000 to fix.
I thanked them and payed $91 via credit card and instructed them to lock the extra key in the van and I would come pick it up.
I picked up the van and the key was nowhere in sight.
I took the van to another shop to have the intake gasket replaced. $1,000 later they started it up and it had the same exact issue as before.
I called sunnyside auto and inquired about the disdiagnosis and the missing key. The tech I talked to said it wasn't a misdiagnosis. I asked him if they scoped it. He said no, "we visually inspected it" and the key "is sitting next to me on the counter".
Turns out that it was a common "TSB(technical service bulletin) for a distributor issue on my vehicle. If they would have put it on a scope as I requested, the correct diagnosis would have been made.
I have yet to hear back from John on a refund and this issue is yet unresolved.
I would not recommend this shop based on my experience there. Initially I was referred to them from a current customer of theirs.…
This shop knows how to treat customers. Our family has used Sunnyside automotive for a couple of years now. They have saved us time and time again. The owner is allways willing to take the time to listen and he has never tryied to up sell us on anything. We get what we ask for then some. Now no one is perfect and when I did have a problem he addresed it right away and I never had to ask twice. We refer others there. Give them a try and tell them Brain struckmeier sent you!…
Great value..Honest..Reliable..AAA+++ customer service.
I have been using John and Sunnyside automotive for over 6 years...He has always made room for my vehicles even when he's had a packed house
Always is honest and tells me a price up front(NOTHING HIDDEN) and never tried to take my car!!
Obviously Andy222 is just upset that every business he's started has failed and is no longer around......
Word of advise to anyone out there in the real world
If you ever need a loan and put your vehicle up for collateral..
You may want to pay it back
Dont get butt hurt if you lose your truck…
