What a Joke!. It's coupon night, so we looked through our various coupons and only went out because we found an L&L coupon in Entertainment. We brought in the buy one get one free coupon good for up to an $8 discount. After figuring out which items we wanted from the Healthy menu and expecting to pay the difference for one because these are all a little over 8$, the girl at the counter, in her best English, proceeded to explain that we have to not only order the free item costing less than $8, but that BOTH items had to be less than $8 - (EVEN THE ONE WE ARE PAYING FOR). She went on, in her best English, to explain that their corporate attorney had researched this. So...we're not allowed to spend more. After my wife and I traded a bunch of comments, which the clerk probably didn't understand, about how funny this was and how most establishments handle these coupons, we found the $7.75 combos and ordered 2 of those, instead of ordering one of those and paying for the more expensive combo. The BBQ is just OK and the macaroni salad tasted fishy.
Excellent Hawaiian Food. Very authentic. Reminds me of Nohos. Not too sweet. Just right. We had 4 different "plate lunch" meals. Everything we expected. This is our new fav. for hawaiian food in the Beaverton area.
Like another reviewer, we decided to try this place before a movie. I ordered the so-called "healthier" garlic mahi, my husband ordered the chicken katsu with curry, and my kids split the "healthier" BBQ chicken.
When we got our meals, I was absolutely drop-jawed at the mahi-mahi in mine . There were 3 paper-thin deep-fried slices of fish -- they must have been sliced with a very sharp knife when the fish was partly frozen -- I kid you not, the pieces were about 2 millimeters thick -- and absolutely oozing grease. I chanced a little nibble and felt like I had just eaten a spoonful of Crisco. Yecch. The salad was a bunch of iceberg with a few cuke and carrot slices; the dressing was mostly oil. The brown rice was edible.
The "curry" chicken katsu was mostly fried breading. Neither my husband nor I could taste even the slightest hint of curry in the sauce. The BBQ chicken was at least marginally edible so at least the kids got to eat.
We tried the "BBQ" sauce as a condiment -- it tasted like sugar, salt, and a weird highly processed taste. Again, yecch.
Never, never again. I suggest you try Hapa Grill on Teal in Beaverton -- it's infinitely better.
Great place for Hawaiian Food. Finally, the real food is here in Beaverton Oregon, L&L is the best BBQ place in town. Chicken Katsu is the bomb, just taste like back home, gotta try it bro. trust da local boy.
CONVICTED S@X OFFENDER CAPTURED AT KAUAI ISLAND GRILL.
I couldn't believe it. Here I am sitting down at my favorite restaurant and reading this in the Oregonian, when I noticed that the cook there wasn't the same old guy, but a new guy. Now I know.
Beaverton police said the head cook of the Kauai Island Grill, was arrested early Tuesday at a local restaurant where he was working as a cook. He had four arrest warrrants issued in Washington County for failure to register as a s@x offender.
Based on information from Oregon s@x offender registry, the man was convicted in May 2008 on second-degree s@xual assault of a child. Well this will be my last time here. So I am giving this place a one star and taking my business somewhere elso.
Detectives said the investigation revealed that the man had an account on an Internet site.
Best ever!. I love this place. It's just like the L&L's in Hawaii, as it should be. Prices are great and the food is always good. Mac salad is bomb status. Don't eat here if you are a health nut...it is ONO greaseville. My kids love it too.
Horrible food. Before going to see a movie, we decided to stop by and have some food because I was starving. What was on the menu as BBQ ribs, were just pieced of riblets, without much meat, deep fried. DEEP FRIED! It was disgusting! I am not kidding you. How can they say it was barbecued when it was deep fried and poorly at that? The old fried fat was just dripping, the rice was stale. After initial taste, I just couldn't eat it. Decided to risk it with a movie theater hot dog instead.
