Great Authentic Food. After craving some authentic Guatemalan food, we finally found Los Chapines. My in-laws are Guatemalan and after moving away from them we have craved some good authentic Guatemalan food. We found it!!

The establishment is tucked away in a small shopping center in downtown Hillsboro. The inside appears to need some decorating help, although they did have many beautiful Guatemalan artifacts. The waitress was very warm and friendly and greeted us in Spanish, which I loved.

The menu had enough to choose from but not too much to seem like the cook was overwhelmed with authentic dishes. My four children (somewhat picky) were all able to choose from the menu.

The food was very authentic. It was very reminiscing of the food I ate with my in-laws. I had "Hilachas" served with black beans, rice and tortillas. We finished the meal with a sweet bread. The sweet bread was so good we bought a dozen to take home.

The price was very reasonable for a dinner meal plus dessert. Definitely Authentic and Delicious!!

Delicious, welcoming, authentic!. I just found this place for lunch today and loved it! I lived in Guatemala for a while and the food, marimba music and textiles decorating the restaurant took me right back!

The food was VERY authentically Guatemalan, but somehow still better than most Guatemalan food I've had. The waiter made a point of telling us the ingredients were fresh with minimal grease and oil used in cooking. And the menu has enough variety (including Mexican and Salvadoran dishes) to please even people who aren't sure what to expect.

I enjoyed the Chicken Dobalditas with rice and beans. It was big enough that I had leftovers, and only cost about $5 before the tip. The complimentary chips and salsa were also excellent -- more Mexican than Guatemalan, but so good with warm, fresh chips and a chunky but mild salsa.

I am definitely going back -- next time for pupusas!
