Portland >Acme Tattoo Co.
I went to see Ross on the recommendation of a couple of good friends for my first tattoo. My kids all have them, and they have two friends who are artists - I chose Ross because of the people who have experienced his work. I am now writing from personal experience :) His work is outstanding, my ankle healed beautifully, and thanks to his advice, I never had a problem with it itching, burning, hurting, NOTHING! My kids and their friends (yes, the artists) all look at it and tell me what an awesome job Ross did. I love it, and am planning a second - SOON! There was absolutely NO pressure (like knucklehead says, you both either agree or he sends you on your way!) - there is no "conning" at this shop!
I can't speak for the one (and ONLY) negative response from kepthis, except it sounds like they have some keloid issues, which would happen from any artist if a person is prone to it. Sorry they had that experience, but I am absolutely certain it wasn't because of Acme...
Thanks Ross - you did an AWESOME job!!
Great artists who care about their work. Ross is an expert in his field, and has done great work for many years. I have one tattoo from Ross that is well over ten years old, and looks brand new. If you know Ross he never conned anyone into anything (or even coned). If you don't agree on what you want he'll tell you to hit it and move on to the next person, not try to talk you into something you don't want.
The Real Deal. Don;t listen to the first dbag. ACME tattoo is the real deal. I have gone into a fair amount of tattoo shops especially around Portland and there is not another like acme tattoo. They pride themselves on their hand painted tattoo flash that covers the wall. An homage to the forefathers of tattooing along with their own stuff. I have been tattooed by both Ross and Ashley and both put on a hell of a tattoo. The Misfits die die my darling on my forearm is commented on everywhere i go. All my tattoos healed great and have never had any touch up issues. They give you a price up front and accept walk ins. This way you know what you are spending and you get a tattoo today not a month from now. They make it easy to get a good tattoo.
BEWARE. this was a bad experience. I have a scared leg now my tattoo is raised on my skin and I had it looked at by another shop who said not to go back they have many fixes from this tattoo shop. I was coned into this and they are not skilled enough to do cover ups at all. I sit with a bad leg now and every time i see this I will share my experience with the world beware...
Incredible color work...and transposition. I have had work done by great artists on both coasts, and these guys truly rank with the best. Most people don't realize that the life expectancy of fine line and complexity is short. That means the mega intricate work you got today, in five years will be turning to blurry mush. Ashley at Acme understands this, but will take your concept and render an amazing tattoo, that will stand the test of time. I have had 4 pieces by him, each very different, with the last being a Tibetan Dakini the length of my knee to my ankle and half way around. If you know this art, it is complex. this tattoo is a unique mind bender to my total staisfaction. Colors are perfect, and her expression is exact. These guys understand color, just look at their gallery of examples on their wall; all in their own hand, all excellent.
