Total Nightmare. The experience of getting a bride's maid dress at Cocoon Silk was pretty much a nightmare. The bride, as well as seven bride's maids, all decided to get our dresses there. The dresses were ordered in April 2011 for an August 2011 wedding. They were promised to come in from Cambodia by June, giving us plenty of time to get the necessary alterations done. The first sign of problems was the arrival of the dresses, which came two weeks before the wedding. The dresses were in horrible condition. The seams and hems were crooked, zippers not sewn in correctly, different fabric than originally ordered, etc. My dress had to be altered several times before it would even stay on. After what we thought would be the last alteration, the dress went off to the dry cleaners and was promised to me the next day, Tuesday (we were leaving for the wedding, which was out of the state, on Wednesday). I arrived on Tuesday only to find out that it was not back from the dry cleaners and that it would be ready on Wednesday. On Wednesday, I came back and tried my dress on one last time - still didn't fit. The dress had to be altered two more times on the spot while I waited. When all was said and done, the dress still didn't ft well and I ended up requesting a scarf to tie around my waist to keep the thing up. Fast forward to the wedding - dress frayed at the seams before we even took the pictures. It wasn't just mine either. All of the bride's maid's dresses, the mothers of the bride and groom, flower girls, and everyone that had a dress from the place experienced the same thing. When I brought my dress back and requested my money back, they gave me half back, even though I returned their silk scarf that was given to me by one of the employees to hold the dress up. The owner's mother stated that this was fair since the dress wasn't frayed when I left the store (not what I wanted to hear). During this whole process, I've seen several brides literally loose their minds at this place due to various issues and I know half of our party got their money back because they were that unsatisfied with the dresses/process. The girl working that day offered to have the owner (Savonna) call me to discuss this issue/return but I have yet to receive this call (it's been two months now). So all in all, yes, they have beautiful dresses in store, but that's NOT what we got. Yes, the owner is very talented and pleasant, but the overall experience was absolutely horrible and I would never recommend this place to anyone. Proceed with caution.
Nightmare days before my wedding!. I was lied to by almost all employees. Days before my wedding I was scrambling to get a new wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses. I could write about this experience for pages but just imagine walking into the final fitting 5 days before your wedding to see that the bridesmaid dresses were 4 sizes too small, literally did not zip and were about 4 inches off the floor. My dress was so poorly made, ripped lace, unfinished edges, very unflattering. Boy did we have a fit, I am still haunted by it all. All along we were assured that our rescheduled appt would go better, etc. Seriously a nightmare. We ended up going to Nordstrom to get great dresses for about the same price. No one ever returned my calls, I had to walk into the store to find out that my dress was misplaced or the owner got in a car accident or the dress was held up in shipping from Cambodia along with MANY other excuses. Please spare yourself the misery of the lies of the owner, his brother, sister, and American accomplices that keep their mouth shut and listen to the owner.
Somewhat pleased. Walking into Cocoon Silk I was very impressed. I was immediately approached and helped with exactly what I needed. I went in looking for a sash for my wedding dress that a bridal boutique was going to charge me way too much for ($160 a yard, I needed three yards!). The owner helped me find the color and fabric that I wanted and told me it would be $39 for all three yards that I needed! I was thrilled! He also told me that he custom makes all his dresses and he can make any dress for under $1000. And by the looks of the dresses on display I could tell he was talented. HOWEVER, I was told that my sash would be completed and ready for pick up in 1 and a half weeks and I would receive a call for pick up. 2 weeks later I didn't hear anything so I called. It seemed as though it wasn't even started. The owner couldn't seem to find my order at all. When I described it, the owner asked me if the sash was a gold color. I ordered taupe. I was extremely nervous when I picked up my sash two weeks after the expected date, which was also, ONE week before my wedding date. Thankfully, the sash was the correct color and it looked great. Aside from the obvious, I was pleased. But I am not sure if I would recommend whole heartedly.
Best Little Find on 23rd!. If you are looking for a bridesmaid dress in that "special" color, do yourself a favor and search no longer - go here. Especially, if you are tired of dresses in other stores not fitting you just quite right. They will custom make a beautiful dress for you in your exact size for the same price as their in-store inventory. Plus, it will only take 3 weeks to arrive! And at no extra cost! I had a rush wedding come up and they accommodated and treated me so well that I want to purchase other things just for the great service. This store is so refreshing!
