Tips for NW Relocation

September 25, 2012

To be honest, we had reservations about using NW relocation services over another mover, but the person we discussed our move with Mike was really nice and walked us through all the steps; even the possibility that the weight may run over the standard. Well, it did as a matter of fact but I was pleased with the services and surprisingly, the cost was about the same as mentioned in the estimate. It was a relief as most other estimates on relocating from Beaverton to Arlington, TX were way over my budget and moving is stressful enough anyways. I would give them a A- and would recommend this moving service.

I moved with NW Relocation from Portland, OR to Chicago and was very happy with my move. The movers were great and professional and the office personal was courteous and knowable. The price was a little more than quoted but I took a few more things that I didnt sell at garage sale. Edgar and Thomas picked me up and were very quick and on time. They wrapped my mattress and boxspring with plastic wrap so it wouldnt get dirty and they also packed my tv since I didnt have the original box. The delivery to my building was a little tricky since I live in an apt downton and had to have a shorter truck deliver. The original quote I received from Ryan did include a shuttle fee but was a little more than I was planning since I took more things than originally thought. I would say all in all the experience was good. Much better than driving a truck myself and based on some of the other reviews I've read online from other companies I think I did good picking these guys. So I hopefully this helps others in their decision process.

Based on my previous experience with movers (moved 3 times before) my expectations were very low! But Northwest Relocation performed above expectation. Everyone knows that in the process of moving there s always something which can go wrong like broken items or rude service, but I m glad to say I didn t share this experience this time and everything came in one piece. From the moment I called this company I had only positive experience. They were very nice and explained to me everything I needed to know about the move. the pricing was fair in comparison to other offers I got from other moving companies. Working with movers the delivery time is usually approximate, however I got my stuff right on time. The crew worked hard and they were very nice and polite. I am seeing some bad reviews here but not exactly sure why, it is so far from what I experienced and Northwest Relocation is way above the average moving company, I will definately recommend them and sure will call them again if I ever need to move again.

After the last couple moves I did a lot of research and found that local movers seemed like the safest bet. They had some bad reviews but were rated well with the BBB and offered to store my items for a month FREE. So I hired them and was relieved when they delivered EXACTLY what they promised. Northwest moved everything out of my house quickly without scratching the walls or tracking mud. They delivered everything safe and sound to my apartment in New York soon after, and I couldn't be happier.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Half my dishes showed up broken including my sons plastic dishes, which means the box(even though it was marked "fragile")took significant damage. Also broken was a lamp triple wrapper with bubble wrap. Not to mention the box of my son's things that has gone missing.

Customer service is crap. They haven't apologized or even offered any help to us.

Oh and when they give you a window of 2 to 14 days, they will take full advantage of that time frame while you have to be ready for it from day 2!

Don't ever use this company. Unless of course you like to be charged way more than they quote and like the surprise of finding out days after they pick up your stuff. If you are lucky, you will get your belongings within 8 weeks of when they pick it up. Oh, and don't expect anyone from NW Relocation to ever communicate with you.

Bottom line: this company's actions are unethical and straight up criminal.

I had a solid experience moving from Denver, CO to Portland, OR and NW Relocation did a pretty good job. I had heard the horror stories about budget moving companies but I must say, David and his team did a professional job. They asked before making any important decision like which box to put in before others and how to pack certain items. It went just as I had hoped, which is a lot to say these days. The cost was a little over the estimate but compared to what I had priced Uhaul at, it helped us save a bunch of money.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! WE recently. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

WE recently moved from Bellevue WA, to Jersey City, NJ.

At first they are promising, their sales people are very convincing. Its the service you get after you sign the papers and they have your stuff. YOUR SCREWED!!!!

NON OF THEM ARE PROFESSIONAL. The good service ends when you pass the sales team.

IF YOU DO DECIDE TO USE THEM- be very very careful, they are very clever.

Then they asked for $600 extra because they had to rent a smaller truck or the second delivery to my husband office (which was a part of the contract and they had already charged $350 for). To top it off they took my dining table to my husband's office and left parts of this desks at my apartment.

The company wouldn't do anything about it. The driver told us if we had a problem, complain or take us to court! We had to hire a handyman to put our furniture together. I felt so betrayed.

THERE WAS NO APOLOGY OR CONCERN. WE WERE RIPPED OFF. A QUOTE OF $1700 ENDED UP COSTING US $4100 IN TOTAL PLUS $450. THE AMOUNT WE PAID THE HANDY MAN TO DO THE JOB THE MOVERS WERE SUPPOSE TO + THE COUNTLESS STUFF THAT CAME OUT BROKEN FROM THE BOXES. I have also spent $100 in replacing lamp shades. But some items cannot be replaced.

THE MANAGEMENT TOLD US TO FILE A CLAIM BUT I don't know if we will get anything back because the foreman so cleverly marked everything as scratched or dented. Luckily I have pictures of before and after and all the bills for when I bought my furniture. I even have pictures of what the boxes looked like when they left my apartment and how they delivered.

IF ANYONE IS CONSIDERING THESE GUYS, PLEASE DONT USE THEM. THERE WAS A LOT OF DAMAGE, BAD BEHAVIOR, DISRESPECT AND LIES.

This moving company is great! I have used them twice so far and they did a great job both times. I read a lot of the reviews on this page and I think if you are moving you need to make sure and do these things, or it is not going to matter WHAT company you use:

TIME - If you have a last minute move and are expecting everything to just work itself out even the best company is going to fall short of your expectations. Plan at least a month ahead of time to avoid stress on both ends.

COMMUNICATION - Make sure that everything on your end is communicated. If you forget that you have a piano, there is a good chance your bill will increase. You are not going to get something for nothing, so if you are off by 10 boxes, you will pay for them. We were off by a couple hundred pounds and my total increased. It stressed me out a little, but they were nice and threw in a free Dishpack box for my china.

PLAN, PLAN, PLAN: Everything really just comes down to how much effort you put into your move. Make sure they know all of the items you are bringing, make sure you know what they are packing and not packing and doublecheck. I thought they would pack my TV and computer, but later found out that I had to do it. So I went to Best Buy and grab a few boxes and took care of it.

Northwest is local, friendly and does a great job!

They did a great job. Moved me across town quickly and effectively. The took apart my bed and desk and reassembled them when they arrived. I was impressed. I saw their great price and decided to take a chance since they have some bad reviews. Apparently there is a reason they have an A rating with the BBB.
