Upscale lounge with patient, friendly staff. The place is always packed but a very bad place to show up alone. Great for friends and dates. Their homemade cocktail list is huge! Pricey, but so delicious.

Still a favorite. Found Teardrop approx a year after they opened - and it has been a favorite ever since. We often start or end our nights out with a cocktail or two @ Teardrop. Bartenders are magicians - incredible what they can make. My favorite drink is always - surprise me. They often do - and always in a good way.

As a previous reviewer noted - Teardrop is not the place for a large group (though we have been there with 6-8 people and had great times). It takes time to make these amazing drinks - this is not the place to go for a "Cosmo" or a "Lemon Drop". Be patient - soak up the atmosphere - and enjoy!

Good drinks bad service if you are with a group. I agree with other reviews that Teardrop has great drinks. However, I would encourage anyone in a group to avoid this place or be faced with a very snotty wait staff! We had a group of 10 people and called MULTIPLE times to try and alert the staff that we were coming but no one answered the phone and after leaving several messages no one called us back. We decided we would risk it – boy was that a mistake. When we arrived and asked the waitress about getting help finding a larger table she told us that there was nothing she could do and that it wasn’t her problem because she didn’t know a big group was coming. After we considered going elsewhere we were finally able to snag a few tables. However, after we were seated the waitress continued to be rude...even going so far as to aggressively throw down our check. Overall, a very negative experience for our group due to the rude staff. While I understand groups can be challenging for servers we did everything we could to try and be flexible…but it didn’t seem to make a difference. Bottom-line: Good drinks, but in my opinion not worth being treated with such disrespect.

Real cocktails done right!. We love the teardrop! They have spoiled me on the best old school cocktails. The menu of drinks is extensive and very delicious. The bartenders are skilled at their craft and you can tell they love what they do. The drinks do add up quickly but they offer a couple of specials at happy hour.

Delicious, inventive cocktails. I've enjoyed everything I've tried at the Teardrop Lounge in my two visits (I'll be back!). The food has been excellent and the drinks even better. It's been an education as well - on my last visit we inquired about the different ingredients in one of the drinks and the bartender brought us small pours of all of the ingredients to try and explained the history and production of each of them. It was really cool.

This place is not cheap, but everything seems to be of high quality and I think it's well worth the price.

Great Drinks Interesting Service. Loved the look of the bar, design was amazing! Personally I like bars that have a view of the entire place from any seat and for the most part Teardrop has that going on.

The drinks were wonderful in the sense of house made items, creative in house demonstrations of old school ways of cocktails.

The service seemed a bit snuffy, like you needed to know somebody to get a conversation out of a bartender that wasn't about spending more money. That is the only thing that gets me on these high end cocktail lounges, you pay 8-15 for a drink and they won't check in on you till your ready to spend the second half of whats left of your paycheck. A little attitude there, I know, but anyways. Cool look to it, just bring your wallet and a date so you have someone to talk to and split the bill.

Great Bartenders, Good Service, and Fun Scene. I stopped in during First Thursday last week. The place was packed and yet I still had a drink in less than 5 minutes. A very good drink at that. We had about 8 people in our group and when tables became available we sat down for a bit. The waitress stopped by when drinks were low and got us all refills. This was a great experience and I will return.

They have ruined me for other bars. Hands down, they have the best Martinis in Portland. The bad news is once you start coming here you wont be able to drink anything but beer at other bars. So, my advise is simple! Avoid the Teardrop lounge all together or get use to starting out there till your taste is dulled and then head out to other bars.

Not Rough in The Pearl. Several recent visits to the nine-month-old lounge have made it my new favorite in town. Owners Ted and Daniel are a refreshingly constant presence behind the bar and their combined passion for this new enterprise, its clientele and the art of the perfect cocktail speaks volumes about what it takes to succeed in this business in Portland. Local and Seasonal are hardly unfamiliar words in restaurants around these parts, but in a bar? Teardrop changes its cocktail menu regularly to reflect the availability of the ingredients found in the house-made mixers.

Not to be outdone by the fare, the space itself is also very inviting. The centerpiece of the room is the large, circular bar, with small tables surrounding. High ceilings allow room for the movies Daniel screens nightly on a hanging velvet curtain. Chosen from his personal collection, the movies are arranged by theme. Conspiracy Movie night included All the President?s Men and China Town, all the more interesting when viewed with the sound off and the ideal accompanying libation.

Good drinks?? Look elsewhere. I was perplexed on my recent inaugural visit to Teardrop at how simply awful the drinks were. The server suggested that we try the warm signature drink which quickly turned into mistake #1. Imagine warmed pine-sol cleaner with a splash of applejuice and there you have it. Wanting to avoid the other "house specials" I decided to go with a standard gin & tonic...mistake #2. I've tasted bubble bath that was more refreshing. Not sure how you ruin tonic water, but this place has it figured out. While our server was nice, another server seemed to be too involved with herself to care about anyone wanting a drink or food. I ultimately went for a safe option- a beer. The beers I was interested in on their menu they were apparently out of and I went with the only ale on there, in particular one of the only decent 12oz beers less than about $10. In summary, not sure what the masses are excited about. Plenty of other good options within walking distance.
