Great cheese plate for wine tasting. I had heard about this store from friends and had them put together a small cheese plate for a wine tasting I had for New Years. Staff was very well informed and made great suggestions for my tasting. The finished plate was beautiful and had cards identifing each cheese on the plate. Everyone liked the cheese and I was very happy with the professional level of service.

When I picked up my plate, I also checked out their selection of wine, beers and other gourmet items. Too bad I hadn't started my Christmas shopping here. The custom gift baskets would be great for anyone who loves fine foods! Note to self for next gift giving occasion!

A Cheese Lovers Delight. As we walked through the door the familiar and sometimes unpleasant smell of good cheese wafted through our noses. We glanced at the menu which consisted of an assortment of cheese plates, meat plates, sandwiches, salads and desserts. The dining room provided nice atmosphere with about 6 tables. The mini cheese plate (which consisted of two cheese, bread, meat, grapes, date slices, and two types of spread) was plenty to split. The server knew his stuff. He was knowledgeable when he was asked questions regarding cheese recommendations and expertly explained the types of cheeses we were served. The quaint restaurant was a delight for an afternoon snack. I also enjoyed the unique touch of the lemon-cucumber water. I would greatly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys cheese.

Cheese love!!!!!!!!. Finally, someone carrying Jamon Iberico in Portland. The owner assured me that as soon as it came in he'd give me a call and he did just that. I'll tell you, this is the best ham you will EVER have, and worth EVERY dime!

The golden temple of cheese. This place is turning into my second home! The selection is teriffic, and the owner seems to change it every week just to tease me back. The staff is incredibly in the know, and the two classes we attended were exceptionally informative as well as entertaining.

I'm in heaven!. Great staff, great cheese. This is the only place in Portland to get the good stuff. Don't forget to eat at the cafe and check out the great retail area. Nathan is an encyclopedia of wine, and David, the owner knows his cheese like no other.

My greatest travel find. Was visiting a friend in Portland from Los Angeles, was kind of relegated to the fact I'd be 'cheeseless' for the duration of my stay. Was turned on to Curds & Whey by my friend and let me tell you, it rivals most 'big city' cheese stores I've ever been in. The cheese is fresh and varied, and the staff definitely knows their stuff. Had an excellent lunch here as well. One more reason for looking forward to a Portland visit.

only real cheese house that i have found Sice WI. I grew up in cheese country. And i am not talking about those stupid happy cows to the south of us. they may be happy but do not make happy good cheese. i am from the cheese head state home of the green and gold WI. i grew up around the dairy and cheese and i know good cheese when i find it and this place has it i have been looking for a cheese place for quite a while and am so happy to of found one the serveice was impectiable and very intutive to your needs and want and very informative this is a place that i plan on visiting over and over again they ar a little out of the way but well worth the drive and a busy cheese shop is a good cheese shop thank you

These guys know their cheese.. I've been a cheese freak for years, and finally here are people who are just as passionate about the stuff as I am. Forget the other cheese shops in P town ....these guys really know their stuff, and judging by how busy they usually are I'm sure they have quite the turnover.

Best cheese in Portland. What a great store! Domestic artisinal and foreign cheese for days. Nice selection of local and international wines. Exceptionally educated and friendly staff. Small cafe with a creative, cheese driven menu. Don't miss the triple chocolate ricotta cheese cake.
