This stumptown coffee house is nestled right next to the ACE Hotel with an adjoining doorway so your frothy cappuccino can be enjoyed while lounging on the ever-so-soft and sinkable leather couches in the ACE lobby. Use the powder room and take an up close look beyond the mirrored walls for an unexpected surprise.
Best place to get coffee downtown. Espresso, drip, whole bean. Take in the scene.
Stumptown - it's the tea of coffee!.
Stumptown - it's the tea of coffee!
I can hear the collective gasp from many folks, but this was my experience with Stumptown. We stopped in for a bit of a coffee tasting and the three blends we tried tasted weak and measly, more like tea than coffee. I was not impressed.
I honestly thought that at least one of the three would be good, but I came away looking for the nearest Starbucks. Yep, I like my coffee bold and I will not apologize for feeling that way.
Stumptown’s Westside coffee outpost.. Tucked into a narrow storefront between the edgy Ace Hotel and an always buzzing deli, this handsome urban coffeehouse has become a destination for java lovers in the burgeoning Westside. Counter seating at the front window and a handful of stools in back provide the sole places to linger over a frothy latte inside the shop; a doorway to the left of the entrance leads to the hotel lobby and comfortable couch seating. The baristas will likely be hidden behind a long line; fortunately, these expert coffee makers move quickly as they brew pots of French-pressed coffee and pull perfect espresso shots for loyal fans.
best coffee i've ever had. This is the best coffee i've ever had and i've had coffee all of the world. i'd strongly recommend you give it a try
Excellent americano. This my all time favorite Stumptown location. It's attached to the Ace Hotel and the lobby has comfy couches and a coffee table covered in candles, which makes for a very cozy and romantic atmosphere when they're lit at night. There's also a photo booth for impromptu pictures. Head upstairs and sit on your laptop at the desk up there. There's a huge chest of drawers and inside every drawer are notes people have left, very entertaining to read! But back to Stumptown itself, the espresso is the best I've ever had. They truly have amazing americanos, very rich and smooth, try them and you'll know what I mean. I mainly drink americanos so I've had many. You can mask bad espresso in these with sugar and milk so it's very hard to find a truly good one that's not too watery or sour, and these take the cake.
A chain that feels like a mom and pop...... I'm staying in the hotel attached to this place and heading to Stump Town has been the best part of my mornings here. I love coffee and these guys brew some quality stuff. They pay close attention to detail and it's pretty obvious that everyone here really enjoys their job. It's a chain coffee shop, but it certainly doesn't feel that way. There's a coffee shop on every street corner around here, but Stump Town is worth walking a couple of extra blocks for.
good coffee. snotty hipsters behind the counter , don't make them mad, they'll bite your head off and eat your soul.
Heavenly coffee served with a back-to-basics philosophy..
In Short
This spacious Westside coffee outpost in the lobby of the Ace Hotel adheres to the high standards of its cozier Eastside counterparts. Don't fret the line; it moves fast as the baristas brew carafes of rich, French-pressed java and adeptly pull frothy espresso shots. Check out the rotating art show, and bring along your wireless-enabled laptop to hop online anytime.
