We are a ballet family (7+ years) and have taken classes at several of the top studios in Portland. Portland Youth Ballet is by far my favorite. The instructors develop each individual dancer physically, emotionally and artistically. They teach the dancers to support and encourage each other's individual process. The directors knowledge of ballet technique and their teaching skills are exemplary. Every year dancers taught by this teaching staff go on to professional dance companies. The artistry at this studio includes ballet choreography with humor(!!), as well as beautiful, original classical ballet pieces. The space is new with open studios - one large studio, maybe 30 by 50 feet, and the floors are specially designed for dancers. Come try it! Oh, and the yoga teacher at DanceSpace is fabulous too.....

What a wonderful space and atmosphere to practice or learn dance. The studio is brand new and getting the finishing touches, it is truly state of the art and a beautiful space. There are 2 studios, one smaller and one very large and expansive. Very clean and condusive to dance. Extremely warm and personable instruction, very attentive and helpful guidance. I've been to quite a few ballet classes in the portland area, seen all sorts of things, and DanceSpace is highly reccomended, i would say for children and adults alike. I would love to take a modern class here and some yoga. Check it out!
