go for the game - and nothing else

by kitchenkat at Citysearch

It's your fuctioning alcoholic co-worker that only talks about sports.

Sports bar plain and simple. The what's what of food straight off of the Sysco semi-truck. Happy hour is decent cause you're sucking down drinks not noticing how bad the food is. Atmosphere is a gazillion plasma screens each with a different sports game playing at full volume. Menu is way way overpriced due to zero quality foodwise. If you eat at Burger King on a regular basis, then and only then will you be impressed by the menu.

Unless you're sitting at the bar, the service is mediocre at best. At the actual bar - they are spot on. If you sit at a table and don't like the food, the service is trained to pout and whine until the customer gives up, instead of taking care of the problem. Twice this has happened to me, each time with a different group of people. The first time the pouting happened when our server asked how the food was, and I said "it's fine." The server said "only fine?" then pouted at the table until I gave up and said "it's just fine." She walked away, not to return until I had to go up to the bar to ask for another round for the table. The last time I ate here (& the reason for this negative review) the server actually said to my friend "but it will hurt the cook's feelings if you don't like it and I have to send it back." Direct quote about a salad entree drowning in dressing with undercooked chicken.

If there is a huge game i.e. Super Bowl, World Series, World Cup etc, go for the atmosphere of semi-rowdy sports fans, cheap non-local beer, and heart attack appitizers. Otherwise stay away.

  • Pros: tv's everywhere, outside patio
  • Cons: tv's everywhere and everything else

Centrally Located - Great Place to Meet!

by Ditora at Citysearch

Macadam's has become a favorite place to meet friends since it's centrally located with lots of free parking and easy access to freeways. It also has a great atmosphere, not too loud, excellent TV's, nice bar, just a great casual place with outstanding food!

  • Pros: Great pear slaw - original menu - no corporate food here!
  • Cons: Can't think of any.

Not for me

by Hamburglar55 at Citysearch

Decent place, went there on a Saturday night, but the crowd is on the fratty side. I got called "Bro" a lot and saw more aluminum budweisers being carried around than I would care to see. If throwing on a button down shirt and drinking light beer out of an aluminum bottle is your thing, this is your place. There was quite a bit of "talent" throughout the bar however, if you know what I mean. That being said, the beer was in abundance, the bartenders were cool and attentive, and it's pretty nice inside for a sports bar. I'd recommend coming for a game.

  • Pros: Good beer selection, nice interior, good service
  • Cons: Too many people with aluminum bottles
