We went to Macadams for lunch on 11/12, here is my review: bad food, bad service. The turkey noodle soup: The noodles tasted like they were straight out of a top ramen package, and the soup was barely warm. It was so chunky, my sister referred to it as, "dog food." The grilled cheese sandwhich: bread was dry and you could taste the burn marks from the grill, no butter or olive oil or anything was used to grill it. The cheese: dry (although the cheeses they chose to put in it are naturally on the dryer side), no flavor. Our friends were not impressed with their food either (breakfast burrito which was mainly egg), my husband said his burger was OK. Service: Our waitor didn't know what the soup of the day was, nor what the sandwich special for the 1/2 sandwich/soup/salad was. Instead of finding out for me, he stood there for a while explaining, "well, they just put the soup out, so I don't know what it is yet...I'm just not sure. The sandwich special changes every week, so I don't know what it is..." blah blah blah--as if he wasn't going to find out for me. I just stared at him until he said he'd go find out. (didn't mean to put him out.) Lastly, after paying our bill, we ended up sitting at the table for a good 30 mins longer as our conversation continued. Had they been full and people waiting, we would've been out of there, but this was not the case. When we did leave, a blonde waitress walked by us on the way out and said sarcastically, "And they leave..." I couldn't believe it. We will NEVER go back, nor would we ever recommend this place considering the vast variety of other [awesome] Portland bar and grill options.

A favorite sports bar. I love coming to Macadam's when I am in town. The place has a friendly atmosphere and always serves up a great drink. It's a great place to see the game because there are many well placed TV's around the place. Also a good spot to play pool or shuffleboard.

I have also been there when they have live music and while it can be hard to hear conversations, that's pretty much standard when attending live events anywhere.

I've recommended the spot to several friends and they were all thankful afterward!

Watch out for the Grilled Cheese. Overall, I like this place, but I have been unhappy on a couple occasions with the food. Example: I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich this last time and it was, by far, the worst grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had. How it is possible to mess up such simple fare is hard to believe, but they managed nonetheless. First off, the cheeses used were all fairly tasteless, the bread was thick and grilled dry and the warm melty goodness of a grilled cheese was completely absent. If they had buttered the bread and toasted it, it might have helped. If they had chosen some type of cheese that melts and had flavor, like cheddar or American, it might have helped. If they had added some salt to give what was there some flavor at all it might have helped. As it was, it was awful and I left feeling like I'd just eaten half of the Sunday Oregonian instead of a sandwich. I'll go there again, but I won't be ordering any more grilled cheese sandwiches that's for sure. The fries were good though.
