What Our Expert Scouts Say

Toast
February 10, 2013

This quintessential neighborhood joint serves a mean brunch, spanning the gamut from impressively embellished granola, (aka Hippies on Parfait) to seasonal specials like the Dungeness crab eggs benedict, all best washed down with a hot ‘n spicy Bloody with MoonBrine pickles.

Casual, comfortable & colorful, Toast is a sweet place to grab a breakfast all day or upscale diner dishes. The service was friendly and the prices were easy on your wallet.

Yummy!. Great place to grab something to eat with a friend or on a date. Small and you may have to wait a little bit but it's well worth it!!! Can't wait to go back.

Great food. Great place to eat...love breakfast there. I wouldn't bring the kids, though.

Cute breakfast eatery in Woodstock. I breakfasted at toast maybe a week ago. Their grapefruit and blood orange mimosas were exquisite--not too bitter. The boneless short rib that I had for breakfast was downright decadent. My only regret is that it took me so long to enjoy what they had to offer. One thing I will add is that their prices are more moderate. Still, they are definitely worth trying.

Wonderful Food, Great Staff. My daughter and I had dinner there the other night. I've been there on several occasions. I wish I could go there once a week -- but alas! I think the owner is the nicest person. He really makes you feel welcome. And his staff are just great, too. The chef even came over to talk with us. We had a grand time. Everything we had was marvelous. Our taste buds were very happy and got a lot of exercise. I don't understand why people dis the place. I know they don't have traditional breakfasts, but if you want something different with good people, then try it out. If you want great food, most definitely try it out. I love food, and this is some of the best!

My favorite breakfast. Toast has been my favorite breakfast place for about two years. I have never reviewed the restaurant and was totally shocked to see negative reviews?!?! Their food is always spot on and creative without being too wacky. I have tasted almost everything on the menu and it is all great. Every time I get the steak and eggs it is cooked perfectly. The pork belly is AMAZING! The staff are super friendly and efficient. Sure, this might not be your place if you want a trough of slop in the morning. The portions are perfect for a meal but you won’t be bringing enough home for lunch. If that’s your deal there are plenty of breakfast places that offer the quantity over quality.

Simply awful. Greasy, over-prepared, overly-presented, small and expensive. What a disappointment. Pine Street Biscuits on Hawthorne or Gravy on Mississippi or Delta on Woodstock are examples of fabulous hipster breakfast places. Toast merely poses as one.

Toast is a "good guy" toast of the town!. I haven't had food this good in twenty years for the price! I went in for breakfast and woke up my senses with a myriad of tastes beyond compare. This quaint little spot lets you know that you don't have to dress or spend like the lifestyles of the rich and famous to eat like one. Sound silly? Probably. I'm not a writer but I am going back!

small portions big price tag!. i was excited to try a breakfast place in my neighborhood and was very disapointed. I ordered pancakes and had to oreder a side of ham (no meat came with it) and got what they called ham... It was horrible! dry and tasted like old pork roast it tasted nothing like ham and was a thin dried up piece. I got two pancakes and a little TINY portion of fruit. ths all cost around $ 9.00. I was shocked and still hungry and had to go home and eat.

And no grits! what kind of breakfast place has no grits on the menu? And no darn TOAST either! what kind of place calls itself toast and doesn't give you any toast, no French toast either. Change your name to ST!

Excellent for Groups!. Toast was incredibly accomodating to my after-school program for youthful offenders! They found seating for two school bus loads in short order, didn't mind the shouting and the food was delicious. We'll be back for sure! A toast to Toast!

BEST RESTAURANT IVE EVER BEEN TO. Ok fattypants123, i don't know if you've ever been out to breakfast in this town on a weekend morning but the wait times that you have documented are actually standard if not better than most. In addition most people, chefs included, tend to move quickly according to the pace of the business that is being tended to. In terms of portion size, I think that it is refreshing when restaurants are mindful of what is actually appropriate for human hunger versus overzealous gluttony. By the way..I love the food/ service/ ambiance and overall hospitality that this restaurant has to offer and I would pay any price necessary for the quality and local, not overly fancy, food that they provide.
