This quintessential neighborhood joint serves a mean brunch, spanning the gamut from impressively embellished granola, (aka Hippies on Parfait) to seasonal specials like the Dungeness crab eggs benedict, all best washed down with a hot ‘n spicy Bloody with MoonBrine pickles.

Casual, comfortable & colorful, Toast is a sweet place to grab a breakfast all day or upscale diner dishes. The service was friendly and the prices were easy on your wallet.
WORST RESTAURANT I'VE EVER BEEN TO.
We waited 20 minutes to sit at the counter. We waited 45 minutes for food to finally come. Neither of our meals came with toast. Isn't that the name of this hippie dippie organic local overly fancy schmancy restaurant?
The chefs were scrambling the whole time so I started thinking there was a second group of people somewhere else that they were feeding.
The food was terrible - very small portions and extremely greasy. $30 for 2 teensy weensy breakfasts. Right after and had omelets and hash browns at my house.
I will never set foot in there again. I hope they close.
Great Breakfast. Despite the few troll comments elsewhere, Toast has great portions and really good food. It's also on the East side of town, which makes it convenient for family. I also found the prices reasonable compared to other restaurants with similar fare.
Toast is part of our family.. We have been going to toast weekly for a year and have enjoyed every meal we have eaten there. Brunch especially is fantastic. The owner and his crew run a tight ship, the cooks are like skilled magicians and no detail is overlooked: house prepared sausage, homebaked bread and english muffins, amazing bloody mary's, mysterious blue plate specials and genuinely kind servers. The second best thing about toast are it's customers: it's truly a neighborhood joint and it's great seeing the same faces week after week.
Fabulous!. This place does everything right in my opinion. Fabulous addition to the neighborhood. Today we made our 10th or so visit and we've never been disappointed in any menu item or staff person.
Just another eco-uber boutique restaurant.. I don't know a fried green tomato on a little english muffin...ugh. But hey, the tomato is local grown. As you can see from the reviews and this being Portland people just fall all over themselves for this shtick. The emphasis on organic and local grown is starting to wear thin as things become more expensive.....and it is expensive with small portions. But if you got the money and the inclination to frequent the local neighborhood eatery and try odd food combos...soldier on.
Gem in Woodstock. We finally discovered Toast this weekday morning. The Occasional Hedonist was exactly that. A light frothy bed of sauteed onions and cream supporting two gloriously poached eggs with Hollandaise Sauce left us wanting to stay on for lunch. Check out their home made chile sauce. Not too hot, so the food shines through, but with subtle chile and slight heat to compliment every thing from eggs to hamburgers. Hopefully they will be bottling and selling it soon. The Morning Glory drink will leave you sauntering down the walk to the rest of your morning. What a way to start the day. The wait staff was friendly. The restaurant clean. Lots of thought went into the details including purse hooks under the counter seats. Kudos!
Wonderful fresh & vibrant breakfast / brunch. Went on a Sunday at around 11:30 and had a wait of maybe 20 minutes which was not bad. About any place to eat around town has that kind of wait on the weekends. The service was friendly and helpful. They laughed and chatted everyone up. The menu was a simple list of maybe 10 things. The food was AMAZING. Super fresh local ingredients were used and it showed. I had the Bad A$$ Breakfast Sandwich and I could hardly finish the thing, it was so filling. The egg on the sandwich was fluffy and delicious. The sausage was loose and was the freshest I've tasted in years. It was a wonderful experience and I recommend it to everyone.
Not worth the wait for brunch. The 20 minute wait wasn't worth it for me. The breakfast (I had the Benedict Oh) was small and pricy for what you get. The hollandaise sauce was bland and runny. Probably won't be back.
A charming little cafe near woodstock.. This charming little cafe resembles a fancy restaurant but requires no reservations and not too long of a wait. Although the prices may be a bit high, the food is well worth the extra cash. The small cafe transformed the rest of the block into a classy and better respected street. This charming little cafe serves brunch from 8AM to 2PM, Wednesday to Sunday, and opens again for dinner Wednesday through Saturdays from 5PM to 9PM. They serve amazingly delicious burgers and their salads are superb with a light vinegar dressing on them. Their baked goods are to die for and the deserts are small of make your mouth water. This a place that no one should miss. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys food.
Hidden SE Breakfast Nook. Despite it's small space, Toast has a ton to offer the pickiest breakfast authority. Being a vegetarian, I am always pleased to see several options for breakfast. My friend and I sat at the counter and curiously/intently watched the kitchen staff bust their backs to create a delicious and quick breakfast. (Order to table time: 15 minutes). I am anxious to go back and have a double order of the potato pancake patty (?..forgot original name). Also, their house-made hot sauce had great warmth and went perfectly with my veg omelett (with cauliflower, garden greens and herbed ricotta). Yum!
