Excellent Thai/Asian Food!.
Tonight was our first experience at Thong Thai, even though we live in the neighborhood - there are a couple of other Thai restaurants we have frequented and simply never got around to it. What a
mistake!
Their pad thai is very good. Not the best I've ever had, but definitely in the top tier. The tofu has an excellent texture - quite firm, the way I like it, and it went perfectly with the spiciness and flavors of the noodles. The Thong Thai Noodles are wonderful! The touch of yellow curry spice makes it. Try it with the shrimp; you won't be disappointed.
The menu shows a wider range of Asian food than your typical Thai place - they have several traditional Japanese and Chinese dishes. The service is as good as we've ever had, friendly and prompt. They aren't afraid of substitutions (I really don't like carrots), and the prices are very reasonable.
This is now our go-to Thai place.…
GREAT PLACE TO COME!. this is the best thai food in oregon! i love going here every week, the owner and waitress are the most friendliest people ever they have outstanding food its actually real decent thai food and it taste great!…
Great little place on the main drag. Was searching for Thai in Tigard and the reviews on citysearch were positive enough to chech out Thong Thai. Well, the reviews were pretty much right on. On 99W near 217, its a rather unformidable location, but its totally worth stopping for. Food was good, but then I've rarely had bad Thai food in Portland. Prices were very reasonable, portions healthy, but the attitude of the staff was outstanding. Here's a family business relying on word-of-mouth. They made us feel very welcome, even though we came in just before closing time. My Thai red curry was great. I was able to order it "pretty spicy", and that's what I got. We will definitely return, but we also took a to-go/delivery menu.. YES, they deliver! This place is great.…
Oasis in the food desert.
Thong Thai is located in a strip mall in the space formerly occupied by a decent sit-down Mexican place. I arrived one day to have my fix of 'fat chips' and salsa, home made tortillas and chile
relleno, but the restaurant had vanished. It used to be there... between that Thai place and radio shack... I drove back and forth a couple times before it sank in: It BECAME the Thai place.
Overall, it's a pretty standard low to mid-range Thai place, but in this area of town, this is some seriously exotic fair. Pad thai is slightly wetter than I prefer but still tasty, this goes for all their noodle dishes. The curries are good and soups are quite good. I'd say they are slightly above average overall, Thai food-wise. It's a lot more personal tasting and feeling than the Thai Orchid up the street, and amazingly, it's not a chain restaurant, unlike 90% of the surrounding food options. To top it off, the staff is incredibly generous and friendly, and very welcoming to young children, which is refreshing.
If you live in the area, you won't do much better at any restaurant close by. Recommended!…
