Good food, long wait, rude service. I brought friends from out of town to the cafe because I knew the food was very good. One person has diabetes, so it's important for him to eat on a schedule. When we ordered, there was no mention that there would be a long wait. After 1/2 hour I checked politely with the young woman at the front counter to see when our food would be ready. She tersely said they were working on it and would get it to us. Next thing I knew a waitress who hadn't checked on us at all came over and chastised me for my concern and said the food is all made from scratch and takes a long time. No apology and a very rude demeanor. The music soon got turned up and became more hard rock style (Saturday morning). Awhile later she brought 2 sandwiches, a salad and a cup of soup for us. Not spectacular food and not a pleasant experience. I highly recommend that the wait staff be trained in customer service methods (proactive information, check on customers, courteous communication). I doubt that I'll return and risk further rudeness. There are other places in the area that serve good food.…
Great house-smoked bacon.
This place has some of the best meats. They smoke their own bacon and it is EXCELLENT. The atmosphere is relaxed and a little bizarre. They have you order at the counter and then go sit down, which
is a little strange, but given that they change their menu often it is understandable.
When I am taking people from out of town out for breakfast this is where I go.…
James John Cafe in St. Johns.
As a very regular customer, I feel a little guilty for not writing a review earlier. This is the comfortable place I work on my laptop and have the most delicious and interesting varieties of foods.
I have made this my meeting spot for occasional business meetings with one or two people. The staff is great and understands the idea of people getting work done over lunch!
I did not know I loved grits! This pulled pork over grits dish they make is amazing- the salads and sandwiches are perfect for me--I have never ordered something I did not think was perfect--filling and honest food (not disquised by sauces and fat filled gravy) the menu changes on the blackboard regularly. I never have to ask for water; it is clean and coffee and tea selections are everything you could ask for. Let's keep this business prospering in St. Johns!…
Rude customer service. Unfortunately, customer service doesn't seem to be important here. The owner is very odd and lacks interpersonal skills. It's crucial to treat customers cordially and will simply ruin business otherwise. On all occasions, staff and owner have been rude, impatient, and unprofessional.…
