The WORST culinary experience I have
I called ahead to ensure my daughter would be able to get Shabu shabu. The person told me they serve it at all hours. When we arrived I told the hostess we were there for Shabu. The hostess (I am not kidding) POINTED to a seat at the conveyer belt. You can not eat Shabu at the conveyer belt. I told her that I had called ahead. She said "they never tell us anything", and walked away. We then had to seat ourselves.
We were such a large group we had to sit at two tables. The waiter wadded up all the cooking utensils and dropped them at one table. I had to get up and serve them to the other table.
He came with the broth and pointed to the heat regulator on the wall. He told us to turn it up all the way. The broth boiled to nothing. The raw vegetables arrived on a wicker plate. No barrier was in place which made me ask, how do you clean wicker?
The steam was growing higher and my mother was burning herself on the steam. No one ever came to turn down the heat or informed us that it was our responsibility to regulate the temperature.
I had to ask for cutlery, and the waiter handed me six forks. I informed him that he should not expect me to disseminate the forks to the other table. He acted confused, walked to the other table and handed all six forks to my 12 year old daughter and walked away.
Our waiter did not tell us what was in the any of the sauce dishes or what anything was used for. He just disappeared. I was forced to ask the hostess/waitress to explain the Japanese food. She said "I am Korean" and walked away.
DO not go there for anything other than very low grade sushi on a conveyer belt. I asked for the managers name and the hostess/waitress said "I am not allowed to give that out". I asked her to give me her name and she said Jacqui. The one thing we do know about Jacqui is that she is Korean and has no Hostess/waitress skills.
One of my Favorites!.
I have been to this Hot Pot n Sushi multiple times over the past year or so and it has totally become one of my favorite conveyor-belt sushi places!
I don't know what people are talking about with bad service, possibly they just got a bad night. I have always been greeted and served by the most friendly of staff.
I love their selection of unique rolls! Everything has always been served fresh and has tasted great!
I will a lot of times get my orders to go after work, and one time they had forgotten to add in a roll, so they caught me at the door and gave me an additional order of rolls for free. :)
I will continue to go back. :)
So I LOVE sushi and so does my wife. We have gone to Hot Pot a couple times and every time we leave saying "naaa, not so great" but the sushi urge comes and we decide to try the quick and easy conveyor belt approach... NEVER again.
It was just past lunch time on a saturday and there were mayeb 5 other people. We entered and the music was loud auto-tuned booty music... maybe for a club but not for sushi... Terrible but we kept going. There was nothing on the belt that was even close to looking good. so I ordered from the "chef" (ha ha)... then we waited and waited... and waited. I finally look over and the dude is just sitting there flirting with the little asain hostess (manager?)... We got up she quickly saw we were leaving and asked how everything was. I answered "terrible"... she didnt knwo what to do. I said maybe the "chef" so concentrate on getting us food instead of talking to her. She said the meal was on her. I said "no way, I will pay for what we ate and you wont ever get another dollar from us". She gave me a half hearted apology and I left.
I have NEVER writtena review for anybody before... this was just SO TERRIBLE that I have to warn anyone who even thinks this is a real sushi place. Its the worst. period. Avoid like the plague
Horrible Managers, do not work there!.
Managers do not know how to treat their employee's / customers. The lady manager is fake and seems to act unethical of racial differences behind the scene.
Employee's work hard, get paid minimum of course, but if you make a few mistakes as an employee during the 2 weeks of the so called "training", you will get fired.
You also get no tip throughout those 2 weeks therefore they take advantage of that.
And last, the sushi is frozen beforehand for a few days and tastes stale, this is from past job experience there! :)
poor quality and lacked authenticity. i had better sushi back home in orange county and the chefs there weren't even japanese. the taste was horrendous and if you're a sushi fanatic like i am, don't go there. the variety was weak and the quality of the food was poor. im a server at sushi restaurant back in the oc and they didn't even have the proper equipment to make the sushi. for example, they put the sushi rice in a ice cooler. the roll came out all weird and little effort was put into it. the chef there didnt even know how to prepare ponzu sauce and lacked many basics as a sushi chef. food on the tracks were on there too long and brought the sushis taste down. this restaurant is giving sushi a bad rep. the happy hour was cheap but the taste was bad and not worth going back to.
Excellent sushi. Extremely fresh sushi and...tons of it are out by the time they open too! I've been to other sushi boat places where you have to wait forever for them to start getting things out on the belts. Friendly chefs (the two wait-people there aren't super friendly--the past two times we went, they acted like they were doing us a favor waiting on us..maybe they'll warm up). Tempura was great and the potstickers very yummy. It will be a regular lunch place for me and my husband.
LIKE BUTTA!. This sushi place is great, people are friendly and welcoming. Thei r udon noodle soup is fantastic and you can order any type of sushi you'd like from the chef which is nice so you don't have to just get what is available on the belt.
all right sushi. One of the better conveyor belt places around. Staff was friendly. They will custom make what you want. The price was ok
Good and fast!. I had never been to a "track style" sushi place before, but I was quite pleased with what this restaurant had to offer. The sushi there was quite good, and the track style made it easy to try many varieties of sushi at a price that is comparable to places such as Mio Sushi. I'm definitely going back for more.
Editorial Review. Hot Pot 'N Sushi treats locals to a fresh variety of sushi rolls.
