East India Co.

Classic Indian cuisine with contemporary style in downtown Portland.

  • Happy Hour 4-7 PM
  • Full Bar / Signature Cocktails
  • Romantic Setting

Inspired by the British East India Co., the tea and spice exports pioneer of the 17th century, East India Co Grill & Bar offers a delectable journey and redefines the perception of Indian food. The romantic interior combines seductive Indian richness and sparkle, with dramatic lighting, and 1800's sepia photographs of the British regime in India. Subtle complex marinades using time honored Indian grilling methods created by seasoned master chefs reflect the food trends in today's India. The menu remains true to classic Indian recipes but is served with verve and style. All of this along with our hospitality and innovative signature cocktails makes for a unique dining experience. The restaurant is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Portland on 11th avenue between Yamhill and Taylor. Ample parking is available. We are open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday.

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

Ambiance is really trendy, food is equal to a 5* restaurant of India, service is excellent. Murgh and vegetarian dishes are the best I've eaten across India, Europe and the U.S. Lunch menu is very unique with just the tastiest appetizers. We've finally found a high end Indian restaurant in the Portland area and will be frequently dining there. Try it once and you'll just love it. Make reservations during the weekends though, 6-8 p.m. time slot is taken very quickly.

Pros: Food, ambience, service

Cons: none

The Naan is amazing, we ordered 4 baskets for the two of us. We spent an hour or so enjoying the spicy Gosht Vindaloo, the gingered Murg Korma, and the Aloo-Kaju Cutlets while enjoying another saturday happy hour ;) The restaurant is classy, the servers are very polite, but orders seem to get lost in translation since you're served your meals by 6 people. Definitely worth going to, but I heard it's smart to make reservations!

Pros: Great Indian cuisine

Cons: limited seating
