Business travelers fill the boutique-style rooms at this renovated South Auditorium District hotel, while tourists and locals cluster in the soothing outdoor patio around outdoor fire pits. The amenities--among them the spacious patio, plentiful meeting rooms and the on-site restaurant, Nel Centro--keep this urban hotel booked since new owners gave a formerly gritty Day’s Inn a facelift in 2008. The sleek lobby got upgraded with mod, LA-style furnishings and local artwork on its walls. Local art also decorates each of 174 rooms, which include pillow top mattresses, flat screens and…
A GEM !

This hotel is a GEM - the service great staff helpful and accomodating. The rooms -while small - give big payback where it counts - beds, bedding, thoughtful layout and conveniences (like extra outlets I can find thanks!). The wireless service is easy to use and response is solid. The HD tv with HD service was a nice surprise.
I will look forward to my next stay.
- Pros: affordable luxury accomodating staff

This hotel is a gem! The rooms are well apointed, and the staff is very friendly. They also have a great courtyard that has cozy fire-pits. I hear they are building an ajoining restaurant. Grab a glass of wine and have a seat.

- Cons: None.
Classy rooms, comfy bed, great city views, convenient downtown location, personalized service-all this for less than $150 a night!

My husband and I live just 15 miles from downtown Portland. It would seam to make sense to just drive to Portland to enjoy it for the day. Rather than driving back and forth, we decided to spend a long weekend staying in a hotel enjoying our sister city which is just across the Columbia River. There is so much to enjoy in downtown Portland. We took in the Celine Dion concert Thursday evening, Oregon Ballet Company's 'Swan Lake' Friday evening, traditional afternoon tea at the Heathman Saturday, shopping at specialty shops and boutiques, touring the new 'Nines' boutique hotel and restaurant and meals at a number of great restaurants and cafes that have so much character! I know...you are waiting to hear my review of the hotel Modera...I am getting to that! The above information directly relates though. We were able to do these activities without driving through traffic because of the hotel's great location! We traversed either by walking [this is mostly what we did] or catching the street car or Max Light-rail. Yes, we drove our car but parked it in a garage one block away from Hotel Modera till we left for home Sunday morning for $12 for a 24 hr period. Modera does provide valet secure parking but it is at the usual hotel fee of $27 a night. Most downtown hotels cost over $200 per night. With our AAA discount we were charged only $129! The hotel was completely remodeled 4 months ago. Comfortable quality beds to sleep on with fluffy down/feather pillows and comforter and a great fur spread that added to the romance of the modern rooms. The bath counters, floors and showers are lined with beautiful marble and granite. Modern art decorates the walls. Everything is explicitly clean! It offers good views of the city and the west hills and has a lovely garden area where you and your honey can enjoy a glass of wine at the outdoor gas fire pits in the evenings. The hotel is calm and quiet - a great place to rest! We know you will enjoy your stay at Modera as we did.
