Awesome hotel! ...something doesn't jive w/reviews. I've stayed here for biz several times now. Wonderful, top-notch experience. I am a real person with no affiliation with this hotel. I know no one who works here personally . Something is very suspicious with previous reviews. All 5's and 1's? Looks like a competitor or disgruntled employee is sabotaging. It doesn't add up.

I assure you that for EVERY one of my visits the room has been excellent (to the smallest detail!). Super comfy-bed and pillows, fur-like throw, Minibar, fridge, flat screen tv, etc...

The Valets, doormen and front desk staff have been crazy nice - and knowledgeable. Attached restaurant is delicious with a good variety of 'slightly unusual' and 'extra fancy' versions of salads, cheeses, meat and pasta dishes. (although a tad too pricey, I felt)

I LOVE this hotel - not the run-of-the-mill, boring Marriott decor. It has a personality all its own. Rooms are not huge... but again, each one I've stayed was FRESH and CLEAN and showed thoughtful touches.

One reviewer was upset they didn't allow dogs. Hello, you can tell the second you walk in this is not place for for fido and fluffy. Go find a Best Western. As a business traveler I appreciate that the place is CLEAN.

I'm shocked (and again, very suspicious) of the 1 star reviews. Seriously - not possible at this place.

Portland Hotels Worst Staff. To Whom it May Concern, Hotel Modera certainly looked promising at first. Offering all that I seek out of my stays, other than worthwhile staff. Moderas' staff have proved themselves lazy, slow, misinformed, UNinformed, and lacking any sincerity. This is what you call a luxury hotel? After a 30 minute check in process involving multiple receptionists I was informed of a no pet policy. Understandably maybe I should have said something, or maybe one of the two doorman could have mentioned that as I unloaded the car myself as well as let myself in. They don't seem to be up to much of anything else other than having a chat with one another. Hotel staff saw me with my dog prior to check in and decided it would be ok for me to waste my time. It is astounding that a "luxury" hotel with a no pet policy would only be able to recommend one pet friendly hotel in Portland. Not to give them too much credit for the ONE recomendation, for whatever reason they seemed inclined to add false fees and failed to mention the other two hotels the staff at hotel Monaco so quickly and conveniently informed me of. My dog regularly stays at the petsmart pet hotel. After asking where the nearest one was I was berated in argument by the receptionist. Now that I know Modera really really must not want me as I client I want Modera to know they most definitely will never. Despite the aesthetic beauty of the hotel, it's staff has besmirched it's image. Hotel Modera will forever be in my memory as a foul place. And I will be staying with Hotel Monaco all 3 weeks of my scheduled trips to portland this year and years to come.

Don't count on getting what you asked for. I spent NYE at this hotel and had the worst experience ever. Didn't get the room we had reserved and weren't offered anything different when we complained. Staff seemed against any harmless NYE fun. I have had far better experiences in most every other hotel in Portland. My advice is never stay here. You would be better off at the Econo Lodge down the street.

Chic boutique lodging revives the South Auditorium District.. Business travelers fill the boutique-style rooms at this renovated South Auditorium District hotel, while tourists and locals cluster in the soothing outdoor patio around outdoor fire pits. The amenities--among them the spacious patio, plentiful meeting rooms and the on-site restaurant, Nel Centro--keep this urban hotel booked since new owners gave a formerly gritty Day’s Inn a facelift in 2008. The sleek lobby got upgraded with mod, LA-style furnishings and local artwork on its walls. Local art also decorates each of 174 rooms, which include pillow top mattresses, flat screens and complimentary WiFi throughout.
